Either would be fine.
Frankly, if Thor can handle ten newbie challengers without breaking a sweat,
more power to him.  I approve of the fatigue idea in particular; let each
fighter recover some nominal amount every hour when the "turn" is run.
If you want to run him anyway, you can.
 Hmmm, to *really* do this right, you'd have to have some sort of challenge
limiting instruction ("DUELS 2"=Fight twice before next run), but I think
the current system of having to repost challenges that occur (especially
open) will do a pretty good job of keeping people from accidentally fighting
too often.

One problem with the full-blown-wound system, besides the programming
burden (Hi, Scott!), is that it would tend to encourage heavy armor
(at least) and, to some extent, big heavy weapons to teach other folks
not to mess with you ("Hey, Fancy Dancer, they said I lost that bout but
I haven't seen you in a week!  Ran home to Mommy, or what? - Brutus").
And the arena is apparently already biased away from quick&light types.
(According to posts here, I hardly have a sufficient database to say.)
