[PBEM News] Homeworld: New Horizon PbEM From: graemejc@gmail-dot-com.no-spam.invalid (SavAgeRabBit) Date: Sun, 14 May 2006 03:05:23 +0000 Currently just starting up, we are looking for players for New Horizon, a game set in the universe of the Homeworld games, set twenty-one years after the Kushan Exodus of the original, eleven years after the saga of Kiith Somtaaw from Homeworld: Cataclysm. A new generation has come of age, those who have been born and raised to adulthood on the homeworld itself, Hiigara. The Mothership hangs in space orbiting the world, manned by a skeleton-crew, a shadow of her former self suspended in a cradling scaffold; her newest offspring, built in her cavernous hangar bay, is the Sien-Liin of Kiith Niimban. The Niimbani hope to create a new life for themselves, like the Somtaaw before them, in the vast reaches of space; uprooting all their citizens from Hiigara herself, they plan on making a future amongst the stars. New Horizon play centres around the Sien-Liin command ship and her crew and passengers, the people of Kiith Niimban, an original new kiith created for the game. Known historically as itinerant traders and diplomats, the Niimbani are seeking to recreate the roving life of their forebears, this time travelling through the depths of space; positions aboard the Sien-Liin include the lives of a merchant or trader, a place in the kiith's Diplomatic Corps, a member of the ship's navigational, commercial, military, engineering or science departments, or even the ranks of the kiith's own military order, the Seejurite Corps. The Homeworld universe itself has the advantages of being both well-defined and not particularly developed; there is a definite and tangible 'flavour' to the game, although there is little enough actual canon material by way of alien cultures, technology and the like; in New Horizon, players are free to suggest additions to the databases of such things, as well as having the freedom to create their own plots and subplots in interaction with others. This leaves the game open and mutable by all players to a high degree, and players can look forward to being part of a developing and dynamic universe as it unfolds. Full game background information, including Homeworld-universe technology and terminology glossaries and a complete history and description of Kiith Niimban and the major organisations within the kiith, along with the game's out-of-character list, can be found at: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/HomeworldPbEM_OOC/ Rules for character creation, a database of currently existing major and minor characters, and all the game's in-character forums, are currently at: http://p103.ezboard.com/bhomeworldnewhorizon All applicants welcome, no prior knowledge of the Homeworld games or universe is required- this is all about having fun with good space sci-fi roleplay :) -- posted from PBEM News - PBEM listings and announcements Reply to this post at http://www.pbemnews.org Up
