How about if I just manually try to match up good fight every day,
and then call each player on the phone and read them the fight
results?  :-)

Initially, ARENA didn't even have open challenges.  But people didn't
want to be bothered to read through the roster and issue challenges.
So I added the open challenge.  Then people didn't want to have to go
to the trouble to actually send mail to ARENA, so I added the
permanent open challenge.  Now I should add something to clear all
permanent open challenges once a day, so that a player won't get
overwhelmed with output?

I've got a better idea.  Why don't the players start running their
characters?  I think the best solution to this problem is probably to
remove both the open challenge and the permanent open challenge.

Although I probably won't do it.

Sandy does have a point about the ARENA output overwhelming the
mailer, so something will have to be done about the way the permanent
open challenge works.  Right now, you can get involved in a lot of
open fights - if you happen to be the gladiator who answers a lot of
open challenges with your open challenge.  Look for some kind of
limits come Monday.
