ARENA: A few things From: peiper@phoenix.cs.uga.edu (Garfield) Date: Wed, 22 Sep 1993 01:16:59 +0000 I had a few comments/suggestions/questions about ARena.... First of all it is a GREAT game.. I love it and am very grateful to Scott for doing it, Next, Does Arena sometimes miss an hour?? Occasionally I will not get a report at 30 minutes past the hour, I have not kept track to see if I catch up later, or what I was just wondering.... It has happened 3 times so far with the latest being the 8:30 PM EDT turn today (Tuesday) Also, I noticed today that I fought someone using a 2-Handed Sword and a LARGE shield! Obviously there are no 2-handed bits set, to limit this kind of thing. (I actually shattered his shield so I fely better). Can we add a new column to the docs, to show one-handed or 2-handed?? Can we make it so that certain weapons allow us to use shields and others don't A final thing of note. The Longsword has a 0 Speed, 2 Parry and 3 Damage, While an Epee, and Foil (what I consider a fast weapon) has a 0 Speed, 1 Parry and 3 Damage. Is it possible to get maybe a wider variablility of Speeds, so that an Epee is not the same speed as a mace or a Longsword.... Also, mace is ABVIOUSLY the best weapon in the game. It uses impact, (which nothing has better than a 3 against, and most things a 1 against) as opposed to the Longsword (they have identical stats) which is a Chop, and some things have as high as a 12 against Chop.
