ARENA:Weapons 'n Stuff From: STTP <STTP@MUSIC.CC.UGA.EDU> Date: Sun, 26 Sep 1993 20:19:02 +0000 I have a few questions about the weapon and combat system of the ARENA game: 1) Do weapon statistics such as length and mass affect the damage or effectiveness of the weapon, or just the user's ability to wield it? 2) Does a faster weapon (one with a low DEX) give a character more attacks per round, or just make it easier for them to hit? Do fighting styles such as wasp or barbarian make a player attack faster? 3) Aside from all of the debates about how realistic the stats are, if the mace obviously dominates all other weapons (i just checked the last report, and all the winners except one that listed a weapon were using a mace) why cant its stats be changed if for no other reason than to keep the game balanced and diverse? The game is much less fun when all you have to do to win is make a strong character and give him a mace. 4) Do different weapon types (ie sword, spear, polearm, ect..) behave differently, regardless of their statistics? Or is this just limited to the type of damage they do. I would greatly appreciate it if an informed person could help clarify some or all of these points. Thanx. Referenced By Up
