ARENA thoughts From: js138@cus.cam.ac.uk (John Sloan) Date: Sun, 10 Oct 1993 10:11:59 +0000 I'm finding it a little strange at the moment, but the best strategy seems to be to get to the middle of the pack with a decent record (by challenging people with really lousy records) and then to stay there. Getting to the top by winning lots merely cuts down on your choice of victim, and allows anyone who knows they can beat you to do so repeatedly. So the theory goes that you want to get to the winning post (wherever that is) with the fewest losses, and you want to get there _just_ as the arena tourney ends. Just a random thought which came to me as I write this - instead of being able to challenge warriors with more wins, doesn't it make more sense to only be able to challenge warriors with a better record?
