Just a point... [noting that the above was not Kevin's writing] there
isn't really a change in rules from what I can tell. The rule "against"
alliances, namely the place in the rules where it says the game is won
when *one* player is victorious, has been there since I started playing
galaxy quite some months ago. Did Russell announce at the beginning of the
game that alliances would be allowed?

I might be able to help in this way, although I would need a copy of
Russell's source code. Or I guess I could run it manually using the binary
he sent me a while back. All of my galaxy games run Galaxy v3.40, which
includes several rules changes/additions from the version Russell runs
which, is probably 3.35 for MS-DOS. It might be unfair to introduce
fleeting and so forth at this point in that game.

In any event, I would expect to hear from Russell personally before
considering taking such an effort on, and it would be about 3 weeks or
more before I could do so for personal reasons.
