Arena From: robertw@calvin.usc.edu (Robert Watkins) Date: Fri, 15 Oct 1993 17:37:11 +0000 IMPORTANT NEWS * The current Tournament will run until 1 pm, Thursday Oct. 21st. The fighter with the highest winning percentage and at least 40 wins at that time will be declared the Tournament Champion! -=-=-= This makes no sense. There is already a mechanism in the game where the fighters are rated with respect to their number of wins and the percentage of victories. To say that someone 40-0 beats someone who is 80-9 is ludicrous. A good number of the defeats of people on the high end come when they arrive there. Any 'ole putz can amass a 40-2 record. 40-1 or 40-0 is a bit rougher, but still feasible. 80-9 is a *lot* tougher! So it seems that the current ranking system used by the roster command is a fine way to determine how people fared. If that best winning percentage with at least 40 wins is used, then fighters should be able to challenge other fighters that have less wins than they do, but a higher winning percentage.
