Re: Letter to RSI From: aj863@Freenet.carleton.ca (Garth Werner) Date: Thu, 11 Nov 1993 02:20:24 +0000 While the intent of this letter is one of a good cause, there are things in it that I disagree with and would not pen my name to the bottom. I will down load your letter, and post a reply in the near future discussing the various sections. Garth Still waiting for tourney results.... One way to handle things in slow tourney results is as follows. 3 weeks after a tourney is run, I stop sending in strategies if I haven't seen anything. For every day after the tourney is run that it takes my results get to me, I delay an equal time period between when I recieve the results to when I send in my next set of turns. Now mind you, I used to spend in the neighborhood of $200 a month on this game, and I wrote RSI telling them what I was doing. It ended up meaning I didn't send in any turns for 3 months (except for 1 arena). Next tournament, same thing, I wrote RSI again. Since then, the tourney results have been coming back within the three week time period. One person on his own will not affect RSI procedures, but some mass action with an appropriate, logically laid out letter of explaniation might have some impact. But try and coordinate players into holding back on turns (enough for RSI to notice $$), and I say it can't be done cause the games to damn good.
