1. You don't have to accept character transfers.  In fact, you can't
   stop them unless you use Force Entry conditions.  The best bet is to
   use the Extract order.  This will transfer *all* of your characters
   to the new force.  Then assign them to combat slots, and you're all set.
   Make sure that the Stealth Option is off for all of your characters.
   You can not assign a character that you do not own to a slot if Stealth
   is on.

2. Your best way across the lake is to teleport.  By the way, in the US
   it's a ruin.  And a nasty one at that.
