Funny you should ask that. I just entered this newsgroup to see
if anyone was playing Quest. I would love to exchanging information
with other players. Partly for the fun of it, but mostly to find
out more about the game.

I have played KJC's pbm-game Quest (game 14) for about 6 months now,
and I must say I like it. I am looking forward to seeing the results
each time. Quest was voted PBM of the Year in 1991 by Games Master
International Awards.
  Quest is an open-ended fantasy game where you lead a party of
6-15 adventurers in the magic world of Kahrne. Your characters are
chosen from four races (Human, Elf, Dwarf and Half-blood) and four
professions (Fighter, Priest, Mage and Thief) in any combination.
You begin with 6 characters and may recruit new ones in cities.
  Priests have 8 deities to choose from and your actions and prayers
move you "towards" particular Gods in an alignment graph. Each God grants
you spells accorind to your skill and devotion. The closer you are to a
God the more powerful spells you can use. If you are very skilled you
may have good spells from a lot of Gods. Some "neutral" spells are open
to all priests.
  Mages buy or collect "powders" which may be mixed or used alone
to make spells. It has been hard to find new powders for the mage
in my group, so he is a bit weak in my opinion. They are rather
expensive to buy for a poor group.
  Each game turn you give 15 up to orders and may have 5 standing
orders on top of that that will be executed each turn.
  The game is computer moderated, with 15 games started. Each game
can support thousands of groups. I play with a turn length of one week,
but there are games with 10 and 15 days as well, unless I'm mistaken.
  KJC is situated in the United Kingdom in Lancashire, but is starting up
in Norway too, and rumour says that versions in German and Italian are coming.

The goal of the game is, as I mentioned above, open-ended. You wander
around Kharne looking for monsters, cities, dungeons and other groups
or trying to fulfill some of Quest. The Quests are at least for weak
groups such as mine, always to travel from one place to another with
a message or something and collect money for reward.
  You may fight other groups if you want to.

The cost is 1.75 pounds per turn. The first three turns cost 2.50.That
includes a 36 pages rulebook, a couple of turn cards, house rules, start
up results sheet, newsletter and a sign-up card.
  All turns bought with the first turn costs 1.25. If you buy for 45
pounds or more you get a 10% bonus. If you pay 200 pounds you get a Quest
for life. If your "life" position gets your group killed you can start a
new one or transfer it to another of your groups. You may fax or phone in
your turn for a fee of 0.75 pounds if you are from Europe. Outside Europe
it's free of charge. 15 dollars = 9 pounds.
