There was no vol 1, number 1 as no articles were submitted. All players of Atlantis v1.1 are encouraged to submit articles to the Times. A unit of the submitter's choice will be paid a sum up to 50 silver pieces (game money only). Only one payment will be made per faction. When submitting articles, be sure to limit the text length per line to 72 characters. Unfortunately, my system cannot handle 80 character lines very well. ######################################################################## Once upon a time there was a world, free of hate and struggle, inhabited by hard working and pieceful peasants. This was about the same time as an ancient god, which name is written down on old papers, found in a chest on the beach of my homeland, decided to create some men with more food and silver than they could eat or use. The god was called "The Big Russel", and he gave some leadership abilities to these humans. From the same papers we can learn, that Big Russel intended to make the world and the life of the peasants more interesting. What he didn't know was the amount of desaster that he would bring down to this lovely and peaceful world. The rich humans used their money to build huge armies, steal resources from the nature and rob the friendly peasants, what they called "taxing" . An era of war, slavery and desertion followed and there seemed to be no time for piece any more. The might of some leaders grew, others where totally dispatched and some even committed suicide. When Big Russel saw the pain he caused to this world, he decided to let drawn all countries, which were infected by the influence of war and might. The old writings informed us, that there were four big continents, which were infected. Some other legends even say, that there was a fifth continent, which were discovered by a ship just at the same time Big Russel decided to wipe out the evil he brougth to this world. Not willing to do only half of the work, he sank this continent, too. Now I'm sitting on my chair, reading these old papers, and looking onto a chest, which fell from the sky just seven days ago. With the money I earned last month, I now have $5005 and therefore I am a rich man. I am looking for the history of my beloved homeland but there seems to be nothing written down, because only love and piece ruled these lands so far. Thinking about my situation and reading the old papers my grandfather found in the chest on the beach, it comes to my mind that perhaps I! could be a man like the evil-bringing humans described in the ancient history. CAN THIS BE TRUE?????????? CAN IT BE, THAT I!! WILL HAVE AN ARMY??? NO!!! WILL THE GODS MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES AGAIN??? NEVER!!!!!!!! The people name it Spakker... well it looks quite like it sounds. I've never seen a more saddening piece of land, before - well, perhaps once, when I came to that great swamp several weeks ago. I've moved into an abandoned hut. I can imagine too well, why the former owner has abandoned it. I don't know if I should stay for long, but then I've travelled too far already, and I'm tired. The inhabitants are terribly poor and can hardly live from the work on the fields. For a little money they would do everything for you, but then would spend it probably in the same night again. I've got a lot of money and I wonder if I should have some of them work for me. Four people arrived with me here. They all seem to be rich, but everybody came from a different direction. Chance? Possible, but who knows, everything can happen in such a land. Last night I talked with one of them. His name is Beelzebub, and he seems to have great plans with this godless piece of land. I don't know exactly what he has in mind, but he's at least someone I can talk to. I've just sent some men out to explore our surroundings. They won't be back until next month, but I hope they can send me a message about their explorations. Perhaps they can find some mountains, or at least a forest near this plain of desolation. Now I'm going to continue with my studies. I can feel the presence of some powerful spells, but it will take several months until I have researched them completely. Well, at least nobody can disturb me now.
