Midnight Games BBS From: dani@netcom.com (Dani Zweig) Date: Tue, 21 Dec 1993 03:33:07 +0000 I gave the Midnight Games BBS a call (503-857-8537) and was underwhelmed. Of course, it's a bit early to judge: They've just gotten it up (I was the 113th 'subscriber'). On the other hand, since they mean to start charging money for the service starting in January, it seems reasonable to make at least preliminary judgments now. Except that so far there's nothing to judge. It's a shell. (It's also the standard boring awkward user-unfriendly generic BBS shell -- in which you put as much effort into fighting with the interface as you do into reading or sending messages.) There are a list of messages telling you which MG games are on schedule and which are running late. (They lie!) There's a directory for uploading files (which you may download at your own risk). (I wonder how they'd react to someone uploading and/or posting the mega-item and mega-monster lists. :) There are a bunch of conferences, though they're pretty much innocent of traffic, to date. And you can sign up for a rousing game of VGA Planets. ----- Dani Zweig dani@netcom.com Roses red and violets blew and all the sweetest flowres that in the forrest grew -- Edmund Spenser Referenced By Up
