Want advice on AD&D PBEM From: cpatil@leland.Stanford.EDU (Christopher Kashinath Patil) Date: Mon, 10 Jan 1994 00:55:13 +0000 Hi. I am thinking of starting an AD&D PBEM, and I was wondering whether anyone who had done such a thing in the past (as DM or player) had any advice for me. Really, any advice at all would be much appreciated. My main concerns are with pacing, especially with combat. It seems like combat could easily turn into a nightmare -- ten minutes of game time stretched into weeks of PBEM time, with very little possibility for tactics (some campaigns I've been a part of have been heavy into miniatures, etc.) Other than by deemphasizing combat, how have PBEM campaigns you're familiar with solved this problem? I would prefer to be mailed directly, but any response would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Chris Patil Stanford University cpatil@leland.stanford.edu Department of Biological Sciences "That in our day such giant shadows are cast by such pygmies only shows how late in the day it has become." -- Chargaff, referring to Watson & Crick Up
