Alamaze PBM info. From: an613@FreeNet.Carleton.CA (Barry D. Nesbit) Date: Fri, 14 Jan 1994 11:13:11 +0000 ALAMAZE is a computer moderated correspondence game involving 15 players, set in the fantastic world of Alamaze. Each player assumes the role of king (or queen) of a unique people. Each king enjoys certain advantages and must cope with relative weaknesses in his quest to lead his people to dominance over his rival kings. Players must focus attention on a broad range of strategic and tactical considerations. Military might, political power, magic, diplomacy, economic guile and espionage are among the tools of the succesful monarch. The reasons I have loved this game and why I think this game is better than any other PBM is that each king must be very diplomatic and correspond with the other players if they are to have any chance at all of surviving. The turn results you receive in the mail are very comprehensive and they are not coded at all, unlike some other games. Alamaze currently costs $7.00 a turn, turns being run every two weeks except for slow games, which are run every three weeks. In the past the largest cost of the game for me was having to make a lot of long distance calls. Hopefully by setting up a game only among computer/ modem users we can all enjoy the game with just the cost of the turn fees. There are several differant scenarios to play, however the best one for beginners is the first cycle of steel, a team game that divides the fifteen kingdoms into five teams of three, allowing for either team victories or individual victories. The fifteen kingdoms in the team game are as follows: Barbarian, darkelven, dwarven, elven, giant, gnome, halfling, nomadic, paladin, ranger, sorcerer, swampmen, urik, warlock, and westmen. If you are interested, please E-mail me with the kingdom that you would prefer. I can assure that all the kingdoms are fun to play, however it may not be possible to ensure that everyone gets to play the kingdom that they would prefer. Once I have the names of all the players for a game, I will contact the company and have them mail out all the appropriate setups as well as the required material, such as the map and rule books. If you would prefer to have the rule books before deciding to play the game, or want to know more information about the game, E-mail me and I will reply as soon as possible. Thanks for your interest. I can almost guarantee that you will really have fun playing this game, so I look forward to hearing from you. -- _______________________________________________________________________________ Barry Nesbit Ottawa, Ontario an613@Freenet.carleton.ca Up
