[PBEM News] Just Like Old Times From: btharvey@shaw-dot-ca.no-spam.invalid (DMHarv) Date: Thu, 01 Jun 2006 03:05:12 +0000 Don't get me wrong... I have nothing but the greatest admiration and respect for those PBeMs that boast an intricate storyline and history of the world, detailed down to the last mysterious copse of trees. I understand the work that goes into these worlds and am in awe of the imagination and time that goes into developing them. I have been there and done that. But....sometimes I long for the old days of my tabletop gaming. Back when you put a character together with a minimum background just for the pure joy of watching him or her grow. Along the way, of course, a personality would emerge, some quirks, and suddenly, your character becomes one you'll remember for a long time. I still have characters I remember back from my Junior High days. So, here is my proposal. A VERY generic world - no grand history, no hidden agendas, just a fantasy world where evil lurks, villains plot, and treasure awaits. Your rag-tag band of adventurers will have a choice of missions which will most likely lead to other missions, or perhaps a lucrative side trek which opens up a pathway to dozens more opportunities. Does this sound like your kind of game? If so, join up at the yahooGroup and check out the Files section for Character Gen rules and some other info on the game. I am hoping to start with a group of five or six. Lurkers are, of course, welcome! http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/DMHarv2000/?yguid=123484757 -- posted from PBEM News - PBEM listings and announcements Reply to this post at http://www.pbemnews.org Up
