ME-PBM: gold crisis From: paisley@palmer.aoml.erl.gov (James Paisley) Date: Wed, 09 Feb 1994 21:21:34 +0000 here's the deal - I'm playing the Dog Lord, and I have been trying valiantly for several turns to get my huge expensive cavalry army pared down to size. I've finally found a sizeable Free People's force to smash them against, *but* I have already expended my gold reserve. I'm running at a large (>15k gold) deficit, with less than 2k gold in reserves. So... what will happen to my troopies? The rules seem to indicate that the troops are paid before they fight, so if I don't have the gold to pay them they'll quit before the battle. Can't let that happen, can we? What means can be taken to avert this? I can sell some stuff, maybe get other Dark Servants to xfer me some gold - but which of these things will occur *before* the troops are paid? Hmmm. One thing just occured to me. Are troops paid at the beginning of the turn, and characters paid later? So troops would be paid from the income taxed, then other means during the turn (NatSells, etc.) could get the gold for the characters? I'm confused, obviously :) Someone in the know, please have pity on this po' little Nazgul you can respond here, or mail me at: wolfen@gate.net Thanx! Referenced By Up
