MI game design From: Karel Driesen <kjdriese@vnet3.vub.ac.be> Date: Fri, 18 Mar 1994 09:51:22 +0000 Am I correct in assuming that Monster Island delibirately limits the speed with which a monster gains items & skills ? I have been doing one quest for about 20 points each turn (a total of 8 for 7 turns) and only half of them resulted in something useful. I know that I have material to make, for example, a squzskin helmet, but I don't seem to be able to get the blurb. Moreover, I read here that you need to be 15 turns old to do or learn certain things, whether you do all the right things or not. Is this a way to increase the amount of money you have to spend to get a decent monster ? If so, I would call that bad game design. In almost any other game I have played, you get better according to the way you play, not according to the amount of money and time you have already spent.
