RE: Barosa Bible... Dean's Comment From: bwebb@nauvax.ucc.nau.edu Date: Wed, 30 Mar 1994 23:08:43 +0000 Dean, I agree, that the bible is mostly pith... but so far 75% of the items that have been rune____'d have given even pithier messages. I'm very unimpressed with the design teams ability to create atmosphere via the game system. It seems as though they attempted to create a more structured war-game... at the expense of roleplaying. To compensate they created the scripted events... which are marginally interesting. I'm responding to the current 'Call for Scriptures' in NIC 3. The priests of Barosa are to submit a scripture on why the sound of a waterfall is contentment. This was a lot of fun for me, as I've been reading some Zen over the past several months (Its not something you read on a rainy day, IMO)... and I tried to use that state of mind for my scripture. What do you get for this Scripture, if it gets chosen? You go on a mission to bring 500 stone units to parthon! Is that easy or what?!!! I'll just have my priest of Perceval go to a *very nearby* barren mountain province, gather stone for a month... then teleport to Parthon stone in hand. The gift by the church is +2 Prestige, +2 INF, and +5 CON. Not bad for a secondary's four piddly actions. I really hope I win the scripture. Hey... If I do win, I'll post my scripture!
