PBM's From: look_out@delphi.com (Just Me) Date: Thu, 21 Apr 1994 06:09:03 +0000 Hi All, I just wanted to give a short, quick, and totaly un asked for review of a PBM called Out Time Days. I have played a great deal of PBMs and I must admit that I think that Out Time Days is one of the best. The premise of the game is something like this, your a member of Earths elite Time Force and your making a rutine time jump when something goes wrong. You awaken on a world called Kolob. Kolob is a world where magic and mental powers exist, and epic battles take place. Your role in all of this can be as big or as little as you wish. You can choose to join one of the many Sects of Time Travellers (PCs), each of which has there own goals, or hoof it on your own as an independant. (Joining a Sect is HIGHLY recomended. This is a very team oriented game.) On this world, you can do anything you can think of, be it assassin, thief, priest, mage, psionicist, trader, miner, archeologist, or anything else you can think up! You can even do a combination of things. Turns are done on a Day-By-Day basis, instead of other games that do it on a monthly basis. Now a word on the drawbacks: Starting out can be very confusing, as the OTD prides itself on there "Discovery is most of the fun" policy. There are so many options, and so little hard core info, that it can be a little daunting. But if you talk to other players, they will do there best to answer any questions. The other drawback is that turns are done on a Day level. So things tend to happen slower than you may like. But, the detail that this allows them to bring to you far outweighs the slow progress. The Turn itself: The turns are laser printed. An average turn runs about 4 to 7 pages in length. Customer service is excellent. They are very prompt to answer your questions (Even when you have a ton of them like me!) and they truly care for the game they run. Turns run $5.00 each and are done on a weekly basis. StartUp is $5.00 and that includes the rulebook (Very nicely done.) and 5 free turns. All in all, this is one very nice game. I highly recomend it. John Up
