SUGAR RAY turn 17 From: fkschmid@cip.informatik.uni-erlangen.de (Frank Schmidt) Date: Tue, 10 May 1994 13:56:42 +0000 Turn 17 Match reports The first week of the new league system is over. Lots of KO's cause some serious skill changes, but it seems to me that the boxers are more evenly matched than last round. One boxer left (Obelix), and another didn't send in a move, but there are three newcomers as well. Taking a look at these three, one (Alabaster) followed the low-fatigue- strategy of other boxers in the bronze league, and wasn't very successful with it: He was knocked out by Dave Diva and the match against Lame Duck led to a double KO. Lame Duck, the former german SR champion, emphasized too much on his offense. Dave Diva was more carefully and was able to score his second KO-win, and is now promoted to Silver. The only other exception of the low-fatigue-strategy in Bronze was David Hesserman. His matches ended in two KO's, one for and one against him - his fatigue was TOO high... In Silver, two matches were cancelled because Kenny Brett didn't show up. His opponents, Warnecke and Sprett, were able to win their second matches, too (and were promoted to Gold): Warnecke won by 40:25 points (!!) because Terrier was so much weaker he had to fear a KO if he boxed more offensively. Emil Spretts opponent, the SR veteran Munch Howitzer, tried the same as Warnecke, but he wasn't strong enough, so he was knocked out by Sprett who took more care on his defense. Munchs second match ended in the same result, a KO in the 5th round against the defending Terrier. In Gold, Obelix left, so here, too, two matches were cancelled. So it was clear the new challenger of the International Champion would be either Bomber Jack or Robert Sprunk. Both seemed to be clearly stronger than their opponents. But let's look at the matches: Maniac started the match with a furious attack, then continued with a balanced fight. Until round 3 he was even with his opponent, then Bomber Jack took a narrow lead to finally win with just 2 points difference. Thugo also tried to attack his much stronger opponent Sprunk, and could get a 12 point advantage at the end of round 3. But then, Sprunk gave up his defense and showed his full offensive skills, and in the end, Thugo was knocked out. If Thugo had fought more defensively, Sprunk would've won by points... Robert Sprunks higher gold record makes him the new challenger, but there is still a match in Gold: the relegation match between Maniac and Thugo. There's not much to be said about it, except that Maniac was the winner by one point, although Thugo's skill was higher, so Maniac stays in Gold while Thugo is relegated to Silver. Finally, the Championship match can begin. Battlin Bob starts with a balanced fight, and Count Meout does about the same. At the end of the second round Brown has two points advantage, so Count Meout decides to fight more offensively. But Battlin Bob, being better skilled, now begins a _real_ offense, and both boxers now become weaker quickly. In the middle of the last round, Count Meout knocks out the Champion, but falls unconcious right afterwards. Minutes after the match, judges still try to revive the boxers. Count Meout finally wakes up, while Bob seems to be dead, or at least in a deep coma. A long discussion starts, and at the end it is decided to declare Count Meout the new Champion - but they are interrupted by a "You want to do WHAT?" which apparently came from Battlin Bob Brown. In the end both boxers are driven to the next hospital, but they sure will fight their matches again in two weeks. But now the full results, and the new matches: Championship Battlin Bob Brown (25,32): 7/7 (28) 7/7 (24) 7/7 (18) 10/1 ( 6) 10/1(-10) KO Count Meout (23,32): 6/7 (29) 6/7 (26) 8/4 (17) 6/7 ( 8) 8/4 (-7) KO GOLD Bomber Jack (22,38): 7/6 (29) 7/6 (24) 6/6 (21) 7/6 (16) 7/6 (11) PW Maniac (21,30): 8/4 (19) 6/6 (14) 6/6 (11) 6/6 ( 6) 6/6 ( 1) Robert Sprunk (23,40): 2/8 (40) 2/8 (40) 2/8 (40) 11/0 (24) 11/0 ( 8) Thugo (22,30): 6/4 (29) 6/4 (28) 6/4 (27) 6/4 (12) 6/4 (-3) KO Bomber Jack (22,38): 7/6 (33) 7/6 (28) 6/6 (25) Obelix (19,36): 0/0 (22) 0/0 ( 8) 0/0 (-4) KO Maniac (21,30): 7/6 (24) 6/6 (21) 6/6 (18) 6/6 (15) 6/6 (12) PW Thugo (22,30): 6/4 (23) 6/4 (18) 6/4 (13) 6/4 ( 8) 6/4 ( 3) Robert Sprunk (23,40): 7/6 (36) 7/6 (32) 7/6 (28) Obelix (19,36): 0/0 (22) 0/0 ( 8) 0/0 (-6) KO SILVER Emil Sprett (20,33): 7/4 (24) 7/4 (15) 0/10(15) 7/4 ( 6) 0/10( 6) Munch Howitzer (22,26): 7/6 (19) 7/4 (11) 8/2 ( 9) 7/4 ( 1) 7/4 (-1) KO Claus-Peter Warnecke(23,32): 8/4 (29) 8/4 (26) Kenny Brett (21,28): 0/0 (12) 0/0 (-4) KO Terrier (21,26): 8/3 (15) 6/6 (10) 4/8 ( 8) 6/6 ( 3) 4/8 ( 1) Munch Howitzer (22,26): 7/5 (17) 7/5 (12) 7/5 ( 9) 7/5 ( 4) 7/5 (-1) KO Emil Sprett (20,33): 8/3 (29) 7/4 (26) Kenny Brett (21,28): 0/0 (12) 0/0 (-2) KO Claus-Peter Warnecke(23,32): 8/4 (25) 8/4 (16) 8/4 (13) 8/4 (10) 8/4 ( 7) PW Terrier (21,26): 6/6 (19) 7/5 ( 9) 4/8 ( 7) 4/8 ( 5) 4/8 ( 3) BRONZE Walton-Bob (15,34): 3/3 (30) 4/3 (25) 5/3 (19) 6/3 (12) 7/1 ( 1) Accipiter (17,31): 5/3 (30) 5/3 (27) 5/3 (22) 5/3 (15) 5/3 ( 6) The Black Bomber (16,31): 4/3 (30) 4/3 (29) 5/2 (28) 3/4 (25) 7/0 (21) PW Dominating Dan (15,36): 3/5 (35) 3/5 (34) 1/5 (34) 5/5 (30) 1/5 (30) Accipiter (17,31): 5/3 (16) 5/3 ( 1) David Hesserman (20,32):10/3 (16) 10/3 ( 0) KO Walton-Bob (15,34): 2/3 (34) 4/3 (33) 5/2 (30) 6/2 (26) 7/1 (19) PW Dominating Dan (15,36): 3/5 (35) 3/5 (34) 3/5 (33) 3/5 (30) 3/5 (25) David Hesserman (20,32):10/3 (20) 4/7 (18) 4/7 (16) 4/7 (14) The Black Bomber (16,31): 3/4 (18) 2/5 (18) 7/0 ( 8) 7/0 (-2) KO Lame Duck (16,31): 6/4 (27) 6/4 (20) 6/4 (16) 6/4 ( 9) 6/4 ( 0) KO Alabaster (16,31): 0/9 (30) 6/1 (19) 0/9 (18) 6/1 ( 7) 7/0 (-7) KO Dave Diva (16,31): 5/5 (28) 5/5 (23) 5/5 (20) 7/2 ( 9) 3/7 ( 7) Alabaster (16,31): 0/9 (30) 6/1 (21) 0/9 (20) 6/1 ( 7) 7/0 (-1) KO Dave Diva (16,31): 5/5 (26) 5/5 (21) 5/5 (16) 7/2 ( 5) 3/7 ( 3) Lame Duck (16,31): 6/4 (25) 6/4 (19) 6/4 (13) 6/4 ( 3) 6/4 (-1) KO Matches in Turn 18: Championship: Battlin Bob Brown (25,32) vs. Robert Sprunk (26,40) GOLD: Claus-Peter Warnecke (24,37) vs. Emil Sprett (23,33) Maniac (22,30) vs. Count Meout (24,32) Bomber Jack (24,39) vs. Claus-Peter Warnecke (24,37) Maniac (22,30) vs. Emil Sprett (23,33) Bomber Jack (24,39) vs. Count Meout (24,32) SILVER: Accipiter (19,31) vs. Terrier (23,25) Walton-Bob (16,35) vs. Dave Diva (19,31) Thugo (22,29) vs. Accipiter (19,31) Walton-Bob (16,35) vs. Terrier (23,25) Dave Diva (19,31) vs. Thugo (22,29) BRONZE: Alabaster (16,31) vs. The Black Bomber (16,32) Lame Duck (16,31) vs. David Hesserman (20,35) The Black Bomber (16,32) vs. Lamont Lovelady (19,25) Alabaster (16,31) vs. Dominating Dan (16,34) Lamont Lovelady (19,25) vs. Munch Howitzer (21,26) David Hesserman (20,35) vs. Dominating Dan (16,34) Munch Howitzer (21,26) vs. Lame Duck (16,31) Pausing boxers: Azrael Xavier (24,35) (league GOLD) Little Frank (24,19) (league SILVER) Duke (15,39) (league BRONZE) Kenny Brett (19,28) (league BRONZE) Boxers that can restart: (with (17,30) in league BRONZE) 'Tiger' Honeycutt Leng Silluen Bill Trevis Michael Freeman Yogami The man Obelix ends his career. :-( Gold record: Robert Sprunk 9 -> challenges Battlin Bob Brown Bomber Jack 7 Maniac 3 NEWS AND STORIES Bomber Jack (gerstnet@informatik.tu-muenchen.de) writes: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sat Apr 30 Issue 11 THE GLOVE AND PAIN 55c 1F 20Pf 3012Y ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here we are back again! After three months of idling around and having a good time, the staff of The Glove And Pain is back in the works. Now, there have been several changes in the league system it seems, lets ask Bomber Jack's trainer what he thinks about it: R: Hello pal, now, what do you think about the new league system? T: Don't call me pal, man! R: Sorry, darling... T: Hey, this is your last chance! R: ...sweetheart? T: I'm not going to make an interview with this idiot! Come back with a more qualified reporter next time! Oh, well, that was a shot in the air it seems. But I strongly deny that we have any gay reporters in our staff! Now, perhaps we have more luck with Bomber Jack. R: Hello Jack! Oh, I love these muscles of yours... J: Uh? Oh, yea! Big mussles! R: Now, sugar, have your heard of the new league system? J: Sugar? Where? Gimme tis sugar! R: I don't have any sugar for you, Jackie Baby, but I have something different. May I show you? STOP IT! STOP IT! Enough of this! This man is awful! Fire him! You know, it's so difficult to find good reporters these days. Now, it seems that we won't get any opinions of the new league system for today, but perhaps in the next issue... stay tuned!
