I have one of the KJC spell lists, way back when the game was run exclusively by KJC, before ABM stepped in and made this mess. Then, the spell numbers were the same for all games; only the names of the spell components (and the maps) were different. From what I have seen so far, the spells in KJC game 9 are the same as in ABM game 2. ABM have announced that the spell identities will be changing from game to game. The original KJC list has only 65 spells, out of the possible total of 585 combinations, so there is a 89% chance that your random spell casting will fail outright. Anybody that won't or can't join such Jo> alliances, or makes an unfortunate choice of alliances is put at a Jo> (possibly) severe disadvantage throughout the game. Not nice. This is, I believe, the motive for randomising spell numbers. But the entire spell list was common knowledge, and the ability to cast a spell depended on the mage's skill (which was also known), and the game was more enjoyable. I have since dropped my ABM position. (I have other reasons though.) ...
