Calling GAMES FAQ maintainers From: djh@wcl-rs.bham.ac.uk () Date: Mon, 09 May 1994 08:38:28 +0000 [ Article crossposted from comp.sys.amiga.games,comp.infosystems.www,comp.sys.mac.games ] [ Author was djh@wcl-rs.bham.ac.uk ] [ Posted on 9 May 1994 08:14:06 GMT ] If you maintain a Games related FAQ, I would like to hear from you. I am currently trying to set up a World Wide Web site containing games related FAQs and info. I currently have about 20 links including 12 FAQs, and these FAQs contain FTP links to any relevant files mentioned. If you have used WWW before, you will know how useful it is to be able to download files at the click of a button; view pictures; watch movies; hear sound clips; and many other things. The advantage for the reader of being able to read about the lastest 'map editor' within a FAQ, and then download it immediately without remembering it's FTP address goes without saying. Although WWW servers will display flat-text files, it is better if the FAQs are converted into HTML format. I am willing to do this myself, providing the FAQ is well established and does not suffer many updates. I am also willing to guide people in the use of HTML if they wish to convert their own work. Lastly, if really neccessary, I am willing to include their FAQs in a flat-text format. If you would like to know more about the HTML format, and you already know how to use WWW browsers, there are links on my home page, to some of the best HTML info sites on the WWW. If you would like to see examples of the FAQs that have been converted so far, my home page URL (address) is below in my signature. If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me direct, although my time is very limited, so general WWW questions will probably receive brief (but precise) answers. -- Dave [Rubicon] Maintainer of the Microprose Civilization FAQ.
