SUGAR RAY results turn 20 From: fkschmid@cip.informatik.uni-erlangen.de (Frank Schmidt) Date: Wed, 15 Jun 1994 20:59:11 +0000 Turn 20 Match reports Four newcomers this turn, and two of them, Karl Hammer and Mason Gladius, beat the two others, Rennigeb and Boffa Bob, and are promoted to Silver. The best fight in Bronze probably was Songoku vs. Maniac. Songoku started with strong attacks and good defense as well, but after the first round he was much more tired than Maniac (who did not even hit him). Songoku only escaped a KO in the third round by staying in defense, then he attacked back and managed to secure a tie because of double-KO. (Let's look closer at Songoku: attack of 7 and defense of 7 means his fatigue is (7*3 + 7*2) - 18 = 17. A fatigue of 17 costs him 14 endurance points. If Songoku opens his defense a little bit, say he reduces it to 6, his fatigue is (7*3 + 6*2) - 18 = 15, and his endurance loss is 10. He would have saved four endurance points and risked only two by reducing his defense) (Okay, opposite example: Django. Django is afraid of fatigue and his defense is so small he gets hit often. If Django spends two points more on defense, his fatigue is 3 or 4, and he loses 1 endurance point each round for it. But he would remove the risk of a 4 point loss if the additional defense is needed) Back to the comments: In Silver, there's the fight Terrier vs. Thugo. Both boxers are approximately even in strength, and the one who can guess the other's strategy will win. This time, the lucky one was Terrier: he guessed that Thugo would make no more than 35 points (5*7), and simply chose to make 36 points. The other three fights in Silver were confrontations between boxers going for a point win and those who went of KO. These fights had three different results: Willy Scuidli's attack against Thugo in the last round was simply to strong to be successful. (Endurance loss due to fatigue must be executed first. If not, strange things could happen: Idiot ( 1, 1):50/50(-479) KO Champion (30,50):10/5 ( -94) KO Fatigue sets the limits for all-out attacks. Willy went beyond that limit) In the fight Terrier vs. Dave Diva, Dave was almost successful in round four: Terrier had spent lots of his endurance in the first, and Dave just waited behind his defense. But Dave couldn't use his chance, and the result was a tie. In the third fight, Lame Duck's attacks were not enough to knock Willy Scuidli out. Willy used a point-win strategy this time and was successful with it. In Gold, David Hesserman didn't even try to win. In the other fights, Battlin Bob Brown and Count Meout were expected to fight for the right to challenge the Champion. Battlin Bob started with a strong attack, which got weaker in round 2 and then almost stopped. Count Meout, whose defense was as good as his attack, could gain the lead at the end of round 4 and won 35:30. This means Count Meout is the next challenger, regardless what happens in the other fights. Battlin Bob Brown won 40:0 against Hesserman. Enough said. Claus-Peter Warnecke and Bomber Jack fought five long rounds for a decision. Both used a mixture of KO- and point-win-tactics. The match was very close, and in the end there was no decision, because both were declared technical KO. In the last match, it was clear that Bomber Jack was much stronger than his opponent. Although Count Meout spent two rounds completely in defense, it was not enough to save him as he tried to knock out Bomber Jack: Jack saw every weakness and Count Meout was counted out... In the championship fight, Robert Sprunk hoped for a KO-win (as did Emil Sprett). So the first two rounds were dominated by Sprunk. When his endurance sank, Sprunk had to decide how much he had to strengthen his defense. It was not enough: in round three he was hit several times, and in the fourth round Sprett even exposed his defense a bit to attack even stronger. Sprunk was taken unprepared, and at the end of round 4, he had to give up. So we now have a new International Champion: Emil Sprett! And now the results: Championship Emil Sprett (28,33): 8/7 (23) 8/7 (13) 8/7 ( 9) 9/5 ( 2) Robert Sprunk (26,42):10/3 (28) 10/3 (14) 7/6 ( 8) 7/6 ( 0) KO GOLD Battlin Bob Brown (27,34): 8/6 (31) 8/6 (28) 8/6 (25) 8/6 (22) 8/6 (19) PW David Hesserman (23,41): 0/11(41) 0/11(41) 0/11(41) 0/11(41) 0/11(41) Claus-Peter Warnecke(26,37): 7/7 (34) 7/7 (31) 10/3 (21) 7/7 (10) 7/7 (-1) KO Bomber Jack (27,39): 6/9 (36) 6/9 (33) 6/9 (28) 11/3 (14) 11/3 ( 0) KO Count Meout (26,35): 7/7 (22) 7/7 (15) 7/7 (12) 7/7 ( 9) 7/6 ( 7) PW Battlin Bob Brown (27,34):12/0 (17) 9/4 ( 8) 3/9 ( 8) 3/9 ( 8) 3/9 ( 8) Claus-Peter Warnecke(26,37):14/0 (15) 4/9 (14) 4/9 (13) 4/9 (12) 4/9 (11) PW David Hesserman (23,41): 5/10(27) 5/10(21) 5/10(15) 5/10( 9) 5/10( 3) Bomber Jack (27,39): 6/9 (32) 6/9 (29) 6/9 (26) 10/4 ( 7) Count Meout (26,34):11/1 (21) 0/13(21) 0/13(21) 11/1 ( 0) KO SILVER Dave Diva (21,31): 6/6 (28) 6/6 (25) 6/6 (22) Lamont Lovelady (22,28): 0/0 (16) 0/0 ( 4) 0/0 (-8) KO Thugo (24,29): 7/6 (26) 7/6 (19) 7/6 (16) 7/6 ( 9) 7/6 ( 6) Willy Scuidli (20,32): 0/10(32) 8/3 (20) 0/10(20) 8/3 ( 8) 14/0(-16) KO Lame Duck (19,32): 6/5 (29) 6/5 (26) 6/5 (23) Lamont Lovelady (22,28): 0/0 (16) 0/0 ( 4) 0/0 (-8) KO Terrier (26,24): 9/4 (21) 9/4 (18) 8/6 (14) 7/7 ( 3) 7/6 (-9) KO Dave Diva (21,31): 0/10(31) 0/10(31) 0/10(31) 11/0 (11) 11/0 (-9) KO Willy Scuidli (20,32): 7/4 (29) 5/7 (26) 6/6 (22) 7/4 ( 9) 5/6 ( 1) PW Lame Duck (19,32): 0/9 (32) 0/9 (32) 0/9 (32) 9/1 (16) 9/1 ( 4) Terrier (26,24): 7/7 (21) 7/7 (18) 8/6 (12) 7/7 ( 9) 7/6 ( 5) PW Thugo (24,29): 7/6 (24) 7/6 (19) 7/6 (12) 7/6 ( 7) 7/6 ( 2) BRONZE Songoku (18,31): 7/7 (17) 7/4 (12) 0/10(11) 7/4 ( 8) The Warlock (17,31): 0/0 (17) 0/0 ( 3) 0/0 ( 3) 0/0(-11) KO Maniac (20,30): 7/5 (25) 7/5 (20) 7/5 (15) 6/5 (12) 6/5 ( 9) PW Django (17,33): 1/7 (33) 1/7 (33) 2/5 (29) 4/2 (21) 4/2 (13) Accipiter (21,29): 6/5 (27) 6/5 (25) 6/5 (23) The Warlock (17,31): 0/0 (19) 0/0 ( 7) 0/0 (-5) KO Songoku (18,31): 7/7 (17) 7/4 ( 8) 0/10( 7) 7/4 (-6) KO Maniac (20,30): 6/5 (23) 6/5 (16) 8/4 (10) 8/4 (-2) KO Accipiter (21,29): 8/3 (26) 8/3 (23) 6/5 (21) 6/5 (19) 6/5 (17) PW Django (17,33): 1/7 (31) 1/7 (29) 2/5 (27) 4/2 (19) 4/2 (11) Karl Hammer (17,33): 7/6 (21) 6/5 (16) 2/6 ( 3) 1/7 ( 3) 1/7 ( 3) PW Boffa Bob (17,33): 1/7 (33) 1/7 (33) 12/2 ( 7) 0/8 ( 7) 0/8 ( 7) Mason Gladius (17,33): 7/4 (21) 7/4 (11) 1/7 (11) 1/7 (11) Rennigeb (17,33): 7/5 (21) 6/4 (12) 7/4 ( 6) 6/6 (-1) KO Karl Hammer (17,33): 7/6 (19) 6/5 (12) 2/6 ( 9) 1/7 ( 9) 1/7 ( 9) Rennigeb (17,33): 7/5 (21) 6/4 (14) 7/4 ( 8) 6/6 ( 1) 7/3 (-3) KO Mason Gladius (17,33): 7/4 (27) 7/4 (21) 1/7 (11) 1/7 (11) 8/4 ( 1) PW Boffa Bob (17,33): 1/7 (33) 1/7 (33) 12/2 ( 7) 0/8 ( 7) 0/8 ( 7) Matches in Turn 21: Championship: Emil Sprett (29,33) vs. Count Meout (26,36) GOLD: Dave Diva (23,31) vs. Bomber Jack (28,40) Claus-Peter Warnecke (26,40) vs. Terrier (27,25) Bomber Jack (28,40) vs. Battlin Bob Brown (27,36) Robert Sprunk (25,42) vs. Terrier (27,25) Claus-Peter Warnecke (26,40) vs. Dave Diva (23,31) Battlin Bob Brown (27,36) vs. Robert Sprunk (25,42) SILVER: David Hesserman (24,39) vs. Mason Gladius (18,38) Lame Duck (21,31) vs. Karl Hammer (19,33) Willy Scuidli (20,33) vs. Accipiter (22,31) Lame Duck (21,31) vs. Accipiter (22,31) Thugo (26,28) vs. Karl Hammer (19,33) Willy Scuidli (20,33) vs. Mason Gladius (18,38) David Hesserman (24,39) vs. Thugo (26,28) BRONZE: Songoku (20,31) vs. Django (18,31) Rennigeb (16,33) vs. Songoku (20,31) Rennigeb (16,33) vs. Maniac (20,35) Boffa Bob (18,31) vs. Maniac (20,35) Django (18,31) vs. Boffa Bob (19,31) Pausing boxers: Azrael Xavier (24,35) (GOLD) Little Frank (24,19) (BRONZE) Lamont Lovelady (20,28) (BRONZE) Kenny Brett (19,28) (BRONZE) Munch Howitzer (20,25) (BRONZE) Duke (15,39) (BRONZE) Walton-Bob (15,35) (BRONZE) Boxers that can restart: (with (18,32) in league BRONZE) The Warlock Alabaster Michael Freeman Yogami The man Leng Silluen ends his career. :-( Gold record: Count Meout 10 -> challenges Emil Sprett Battlin Bob Brown 9 Warnecke 4 Bomber Jack 4 NEWS AND STORIES NEWCOMERS IN TURN 21 WILL START WITH (18,32) IN LEAGUE BRONZE.
