The boxer's goal is to be promoted to the highest league and become (and remain) International Champion. SUGAR RAY is (C)opyrighted by Reinhard Schoen. Both stats will change during the boxer's career. Sugar Ray is an open-ended game for an unlimited number of players. You can join and leave at any time. THE BOXING MATCH Each turn you have a boxing match against one of the members of your league. A boxing match consists of five rounds, if it's not ended by a KO prematurely. NOTE: The five boxing rounds are only ONE turn. THE BOXING ROUND For each of the five rounds you have to state an attack number and a defense number. Both numbers have to be positive or zero. Then the fatigue for this round is calculated: Fatigue = ( 3 * attack number ) + ( 2 * defense number ) - skill If the fatigue is greater than zero, the boxer loses endurance points according to the following list: Fatigue 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 ... Endurance lost 1 1 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 4 5 6 7 8 10 ... If the fatigue is greater than 15, you lose 2*(fatigue-10) endurance points. If the endurance of at least one boxer becomes less than 1, this boxer is considered knocked out, and the match is over. Then the exchange of blows takes place: if one boxer's attack number exceeds the defense number of his opponent, the opponent loses (difference*2) endurance points. If now the endurance of at least one boxer becomes less than 1, this boxer is considered knocked out, and the match is over. NOTE: Both boxers can be knocked out simultaneously. THE RESULT OF THE MATCH If exactly one boxer is knocked out, his opponent is the winner of the match. If both boxers are knocked out, a tie is declared. If no boxer is knocked out, the boxer with the greater total of attack points wins on points. If both boxers have equal numbers of attack points, a tie is declared. HOW SKILL AND ENDURANCE CHANGE Immediately after the fight, both boxers regain their initial endurances. If one player was knocked out, his skill decreases by one point, while his opponent's skill increases by one. If one player scores a point win, he gets an endurance point, while his opponent loses one point. In case of a tie, nothing happens. After the match you can train either skill or endurance. If you train skill, you will get a skill point. If you train endurance, you will get 1d5 endurance points (an imaginary 5-sided die is thrown, the result is the number of e. points you get) LEAGUES AND CHAMPIONSHIP The boxers are divided into three leagues; league GOLD contains the best, league BRONZE the worst boxers. Each turn the GameMaster pairs off the participants of each of the three leagues. Every boxer has two matches per turn, against different opponents. The result of the first match has no influence on the second match. The boxers who win both matches are promoted to the next higher league, and those who lose both matches are relegated to the next lower one. The boxers who won(lost) one match and had a tie in the other are usually promoted(relegated), but the GameMaster may decide not to do it if one league would be much bigger than another then. Winners in league GOLD are not promoted and losers in league BRONZE are not relegated, of course. Beyond the leagues there is the International Champion. His opponent is the boxer that has the highest gold record. The gold record is three times the matches won in GOLD, plus the number of ties in GOLD. The gold record is set to zero if the boxer challenges the Champion (no matter if he wins or loses), or when he is relegated. If there is more than one such boxer, one of them is chosen by random. If the International Champion loses the match, he is relegated to league GOLD, and the successful challenger is declared the new International Champion. Otherwise, the challenger will return to league GOLD. The International Champion has no training because he spends too much time partying ;-) STARTING STATS, PAUSING AND NMR In the first turn, the boxers start with a skill of 10 and an endurance of 20. If you start later, you'll start in the lowest league and get the stats that are usual there. If you don't send in your move in due time, your attackpoints and defensepoints will be set to zero, and you'll get no training that turn. You will be set on the list of pausing boxers. You can put yourself on the list of pausing boxers if you put a remark 'pausing for x weeks' after your turn orders. You can be reactivated at any time, the GameMaster will then put you in a league your stats are fitting in.
