[PBEM News] Echoes of Aerryth From: myoung4771@yahoo-dot-com.no-spam.invalid (furabo) Date: Wed, 26 Jul 2006 03:05:15 +0000 To those who labor for naught save the pleasure of tale and songGreeting: For it was many of your years ago that you came to dwell among us, after a fashion, and defended the civilized peoples of Aerryth against the servants of the Tython Charis, and through your efforts he was chained once more and cast into the Outer Dark. Yet the defeat of Charis was not the greatest gift your grace bestowed upon our little world: Rather, your very presence, your tales and songs, your laughter and anger and all the thought you bent upon the deeds of our sphereeach of these things served in its fashion to breathe a little more life into our world. The tales you told yourselves in idleness, for no other purpose than your own amusement--these tales served to make us real, for ever as you bend your thoughts to tell your tales of faraway, so do you share the sparks of reality that lie in the beating of your hearts; and so you make real these realms of fantasy. I, who am named Echo in your tongue, pray that you may heed our plight. Those of your kindred who once brought life to our lovely world have perished seemingly, or have turned their thought and will to other matters. We fade; we live no more; the thought and laughter that bound our sphere together and brought us definition now are gone. The tapestry that is our world unravels, and soon Aerryth will be no more. And so I ask that you will deign once more to enter Aerryth, and so breathe life anew into our sphere. If you would know more of our world, and would fashion for yourself a guise in which to seek adventure therein, then I beg you contact the scribe who shares these words with you. He has agreed to lend me his help, and will give his aid that you may weave new talesso shall Aerryth live once more, for a day, or year, or many lives of our people. I give you my thanks. = = = = Echo is a bit long-winded, as you see. I plan to set up his new tale in 3rd Edition GURPS, using only the Basic Set, GURPS Magic, and Compendium I. So far as I can tell, the world of Aerryth is a fantasy/medieval setting. Im guessing that the adventures will be cinematic, but have yet to settle a definite point limit. If youre interested, please respondmy email is myoung4771@yahoo.com. (Note--Don't worry if you're not into GURPS--I'll be happy to guide you along, translate your character ideas into GURPS mechanics, etc. I tend to focus more on the story than the mechanics, which after all exist just to hold the story up!)
