Call for players - RPG From: olly@mu.sans.vuw.ac.nz (Oliver Dunbar) Date: Fri, 16 Sep 1994 02:03:15 +0000 I am, at present trying to set up an RPG that would be played on a MUSH. The particular MUSH that it will be played on is still being decided. It will be played at 4pm - 8pmEST on Sunday's. Before we continue, a little history of the world in which it will be played... *********************************************************************** Long, long ago, when the universe was young, the Gods looked down upon the world they called Eaoria and felt saddened. Although what they saw was beautiful, there was none but them to enjoy its majesty. And so the Gods met, and decided to create life that could enjoy Eaoria with them. And so it happened that they created a race of creatures called Denoa'sors, meaning "Children of the source", and this race ruled supreme on Eaoria for millennia. But there came a time, as there does for every race, when the Denoa'sors began to doubt their Gods, and they turned away from them. The Gods were angry, and, in their fury, created a swarm of meteors that rained down upon Eaoria, crushing the life from every living being. And Eaoria lay lifeless for many years. Yet, Ylara, Goddess of life, looked down upon what she and her brothers and sisters had done, and she wept. And her tears fell upon Eaoria and created the seas and the rivers. And Ylara's brother, Zir, slumbering deep within Eaoria, did hear his sister weeping and awoke. Upon seeing the distress of his sister, Zir did cause a mighty earthquake that did destroy the last remnants of the Denoa'sors civilization. Yet at the same time, he did cause new lands to rise above the seas. And between them, Ylara and Zir did cause life to come to these lands. Yet this life was flawed. While the Denoa'sors had been created by the combined efforts of all the Gods, these new races were created by Ylara and Zir alone. They were savage beasts who lived only for killing. Among their number was a race called the Ma'nai, who were especially brutal. However, Ylara and Zir did not despair, for in their haste to destroy the Denoa'sors, the Gods had made a mistake. They had created the meteors using raw Ykisa, from the Wal'solarius, and in doing so, introduced Ykisa into Eaoria, as the meteors continued to eminate Ykisa even after the Denoa'sors were destroyed. And so these new races discovered this Ykisa, and some of these races, in particular the Werik, learned to harness the waves of Ykisa eminating from the meteors and use it for their own ends. And even the Ma'nai, although they could not use the Ykisa themselves, could feel its presence and were affected by it, hence becoming less brutal. Yet not all the races were affected by the Ykisa, the notable exception being the Lanki, who resided, and indeed still reside, far from the meteors striking points and hence far from the waves of Ykisa. ***End History*** That is just a general history, and would be known to all characters in one form or another. More specific details may follow later if the character would know them. The easiest way to sort out characters, and the type of characters played, I think, is if people tell me what sort of character they want to play...ie Mage, thief etc. In general you can be whatever you like, (although there are limits), from a Werik who has studied the ways of the Ykisa for years, to a farmer who harvests the illegal "Star of night." A few restrictions...Ma'nai (Humans) may not use the Ykisa at all, so hence cannot play mage type characters. Some strange cretures are allowed, eg I'm letting someone play a Sabre-tooth tiger type creature, but in general only *reasonable* things are allowable, so be prepared for me to say, no. Generally I'll try to give people more than one option for the type of character they tell me they want to play, to give as wide a choice as possible. The more you tell me about the sort of character you want to play, at the start, the easier it makes my job, so try to be specific as possible. Okay. Stats details. Ability scores are divided into 5 catagories. Strength Dexteriyt Constitution Intelligence Charisma Scores range from 1-20. Total points to distribute is 70. Your ability scores should *reflect* the history you create, and the type of character you are playing, eg giving a mage character a high strength is not very good, unless there is a *good* reason for it, and I have seen some good reasons given for it in the past. Skills are basically anything you like, from Cooking to Swordsmanship. Again scores range from 1-20. 84 points total to distribute. Maximum number of skills is 7. If your character wants the skill of 'prophecy' then talk to me as soon as possible, because although I'll allow it there are certain things you should know. Other than that, feel free to email me with any questions, or if you want more info, or with your character outline. Olly. Up
