Good luck...you'll need it.  This is one thing that I'm not entirely
happy about with the game.  It seems that both parties and monsters are
given ample opportunity to flee, and if either winds up in an engagement
and is wounded below their "flee factor", they may well take off before
a single blow is exchanged.

While this is gentle to wounded parties running into nasties, or being
hunted by other parties, it makes the game somewhat annoying in the
way you describe.  Personally, I think retreats should be less
likely to succeed immediately, and the non-retreating party should
get a chance to get a last round or two of hits in, at plusses
to hit and damage, as their foe is turning tail and fleeing.
Bob, you out there still?  Thoughts on this?

Hmm, are you sure casting a sleep spell, and then doing an Engage
order, wouldn't chop them up pretty well?  My group is too
goody-two-shoes to do such a thing, so I don't know if it works.

If it weren't for the fact that NPC's move so erratically, maybe
the ambush order would work well.  I wonder if moving into the same
square as the kobolds and then executing an ambush order would work.
