Seeking pointers on setting up pbm From: siffert@benji.Colorado.EDU (Brent and Render) Date: Sun, 02 Oct 1994 02:18:17 +0000 A friend and I are seeking tips on setting up a Play-by-email game with a cyber theme that emphasizes creative writing. Players will read pre-existing chapters from any number of different threads, and be invited to write their own chapters to continue the macrostory, while gamemasters serve as editors and major plot contributors. However, neither of us have experience setting up pbm games. I personally have set up many different automatic email services, but nothing that has tried to handle a large volume of player responses. So, players and gamemasters alike, here's your chance to tell horror stories about unsuccessful games and how to avoid them. Gamemasters, what should we plan for and what kind of response time is expected from us? Players, what would you like to see in a truly fun pbem game? I will happily compile all responses and post them at a later date.
