Re:QUEST:How goods a group!! From: Rolfe Hodges <hodgesr@emu.insted.unimelb.edu.au> Date: Thu, 29 Sep 1994 00:56:54 +0000 Hi there people! I have seen 2 sets of stats for Quest on the net and have used the same rating method used within my alliance to compare them. My rating system is based on giving a rating of 30 points to a "best possible" beginning character. This is not a character with 99 in all 4 stats, but rather based on stats compiled for more than 70 quest groups' initial turns. Characters who are purchaced later in the game often exceed these values (which are different for each class/race combination), as do those who have developed as time goes on. For example: the best possible initial DF would have the following stats: SK 40 TO 70 AW 50 CH 40 for a 4 stat total of 200. David Cragg's first DF has the following stats: SK 33 TO 61 AW 44 CH 38 making a total of 176 176-200 + 30 gives 6, his ranking out of 30. The individual rankings are added together and compared to the "best possible" total for the whole group, in David's case, 270 (9 members * 30 pts= 270). This is then expressed as a percentage. I also include total party experience, and total weaponskill in there as well. Anyway, Peter Norton's group ranks at 78.64%, made up of 136/240 points, 2734 total XP, and 254 total weapon skill. This would rank him as 17th out of~50 groups in one part of my alliance. David Cragg's group gets 72.74%, Made up of 154/270 points, 1499 XP and 274 weapon skill. He ranks as 20th in the same section. A brand new party of 6 members is likely to rank at ~40%. Our most experienced groups are ranked at about 150%, with about 10000 party exp and 500 weapon skill at turn ~60 As there have aparently been some coding changes, the newer games and the newer parties in the older games, tend to have much higher weapon skill, as the older groups started from zero. My oldest group has only about 200 weapon skill after 65 turns, whereas my newest group has 450 at turn 19! Rolfe Hodges, Overlords of Kharne alliance, Games 1,2 and 4 Dynamic Games, Australia. Up
