HELP! Need Player Quick From: ac829@FreeNet.Carleton.CA (Andrew Hopkinson) Date: Tue, 04 Oct 1994 20:39:32 +0000 Hey ho, I am re-starting a game called castlerock, and one of the players I got may not be able to play. The game is set to start on monday. I will attach a file with all the necessary info. Be warned though, the ftp site is unreliable. If you have problems, send a message to: ahopkins@ccs.carleton.ca ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The game is called Castlerock. It is a wargame set in a medieval/fantasy world for 10 players. You are an upstart baron trying to control the production on Castlerock island as well as fend off your enemies who trying to do the same! Each barony is a different race; elf, dwarf, orc, half-elf, gnome, human - you name it. Each race has its own unique special abilities and/or troops. In addition to purchasing armies, you also control 3 spellcasters who research the mysterious locations on the island in order to gain to spells which will help you in your conquests. The complete rules are very long (60+ pages) due to the fact that the game is not completely automated. The replies are in text format, there is no graphic interaction, although you do get a map. You can get the map either in .gif format (2 sides), or postscript (good for printing, about 300k/side). Both versions of the map can be obtained via ftp at ftp.cp.tn.tudelft.nl in the pub/pbm_old/Castlerock drawer. The gif versions are called crmapl.gif.gz (left side) and crmapr.gif.gz (right side) respectively. The postscript version are called crmapl.ps.gz and crmapr.ps.gz. Both are compressed using a unix compression call gzip. To unzip type gunzip <filename>.gz. A shortened version of the rules (Castlerock.txt) are found at the same ftp site in the pub/pbm/misc drawer. This is just to give a rough idea of what the game is like. For the complete rules just send me a message at ac829@ Freenet.carleton.ca. Turns will be processed every week. The game has been well play-tested for over 5 years and is almost everyone who has played it agrees that it's a great game. If you like lots of detailed rules and lots of multiplayer interaction, you'll love Castlerock. -- +------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Andrew Hopkinson | "Man proposes God disposes." | | ac829@Freenet.Carleton.Ca | -A famous person | +------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Up
