Diplomacy in Australia From: madams@tartarus.uwa.edu.au (Michael Adams) Date: Mon, 03 Oct 1994 10:03:33 +0000 This is a monthly posting (or its supposed to be when I remember) by me on behalf on Ken Sproat (kenspr@futile.apana.org.au), the President of the Diplomacy Association of Australia. ***************************************************** D I P L O M A C Y I N A U S T R A L I A ***************************************************** You are invited to play Diplomacy in Australia In Tournaments -------------- Each year, a number of tournaments are organised throughout Australia The 4 major Tournaments are held in Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney as well as a number of regional tournaments. Tournaments in Darwin, Adelaide and Perth are also planned in the near future. The best players in Australia are in attendance, as is the occasional overseas competitor. All competing players are ranked by yearly tournament performance with the best player of the year awarded "The Bismarck Cup" at the Canberra Tournament. By Mail ------- Thanks to the dedication of many Diplomacy players, there are currently 4 amateur magazines published in the Australian hobby. Their circulation spans the nation (and overseas) and helps keep subscribers updated with the results published in the next magazine issue. Many of these magazines also print letters, strategy and analysis articles to improve your play and tournament circuit results. The average monthly cost of an issue is $2.50. With Clubs ---------- Many regional clubs are in existence and meet on a regular basis for social gaming. Canberra, Sydney, Darwin, Brisbane, Perth (email madams@tartarus.uwa.edu.au) and Melbourne all have clubs which meet on a regular basis. Clubs in Port Macquarie and Adelaide are expected to be up and running within the next 12 months.
