AG : New Player Character Advise From: drj1@freenet2.scri.fsu.edu (David Johnson) Date: Sun, 02 Oct 1994 04:26:58 +0000 If you are concerned about New Character Startup and want a little ODD advice... then you can have my interpretation. However, David Saville seems to be pretty centered mentally (reliable). I would seriously consider having near maximums when a trait has a limitation. I would also suggest you never put a starting trait below 10, whichs average... You WILL pay later. HO BOY will you pay. I made a mistake of starting my halfling out with a 7 strength. Luckily, you can build a lower than the already low strength halfling and make it work.... but only if you minimize weapons and armor and maximize fighting dirty and dexterity (speed). Also of note is that smartness(cunning) and stamina(staying power) are very important to a thinking fighter. I also lucked out in that I picked the minimum size and minimum height for this character. Increasing the weightiness of the dodger/fast thinking fighter option. Otherwise I would have been hosed FOREVER. As it was I lost about oh.... 38 of my first 40 fights and had really bad turns for 5 months. If you make a mistake.... consider starting over if it is less than say..... five turns. Otherwise look at it as a remarkable opportunity to ROLEPLAY and live with it.............. -- ***** David Ray Johnson ***** "Hawkwind" Referenced By Up
