GALAXY: Hall of Fame and Infamy From: graeme@abekrd.co.uk (Graeme Griffiths) Date: Mon, 17 Oct 1994 11:29:55 +0000 Automatically produced - Mon Oct 17 12:27:42 1994 List Maintainers Notes: Historical occasion, first automated Hall of Fame and Infamy. Please make as many (constructive, please) criticisms about the new layout. This is an attempt to make it better than before as well as keeping it effort-free my end. I've added all the game results Rob Novak has sent me so far. For those that are still missing if anyone has the results I'd appreciate them. Next stage of the automation is an HTML version of the hall to be added to my (under development) galaxy WWW home-page. Along with the long form version I'll be producing a top-ten version. The address of these pages will be announced as soon as I'm happy with it. Comments always appreciated. G.Griffiths (graeme@abekrd.co.uk) Galaxy Hall of Fame and Infamy ============================== Recording the meritous results of past Galaxy games played over the Internet and allocating points to the players concerned, based on their past efforts. (Galaxy was written and maintained by Russell Wallace as a PBeM) Health Warning -------------- Be warned, all the following persons have killed billions of sentient beings and should be treated with utmost caution. Most are responsible for the genocide of complete species !! All should be treated as armed and dangerous. Rules ----- 1) The winning score of a game is the number of points equal to the number of players at the start of the game e.g. 40 players start the game, there are 40 points to be scored by the winner(s). 2) If a single person wins, they get the total score. 3) If an alliance of players wins, the number of points is divided evenly between the alliance members, based on the ratios of final industry scores. This helps add incentive to having either a single winner or having the highest industry. 4) Scores are cumulative for each player, and rankings are displayed in order of points won. 5) All Galaxy games played over the Internet and using Russell Wallace's code qualify, as long as they are publicly advertised. Private games, or significant variations from the original code, must be considered separately. (They will probably be included but we would really prefer to keep close to the original code) 6) The rankings will be posted to Rec.Games.PBM at regular intervals. 7) Winning races which change hands during a game for any reason are only recorded for the final player. Previous players receive no credit for their part in the development of the race. (It is recognised that this may not be totally fair on them, especially if they have dropped out for reasons outside their control, but there seems no fair way of managing this.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The GMs concerned (so far) are :- Mark Mark Nardin (Nardinm@engin.umich.edu) Rob Rob McNeur (Rob@ccc.govt.nz) John John Pietrzak (pietrzak@grant.cecer.army.mil) Russell Russell Wallace (RWallace@vax1.tcd.ie) Kev Kevin Pankhurst (k.pankhurst@imperial.ac.uk) Howard Howard Bampton (bampton@cs.utk.edu) Novak Rob Novak (rnovak@nyx.cs.du.edu) Jcho John Cho (jcho@NMSU.Edu) Martin Martin Lapierre (lapierrm@jsp.umontreal.ca) Games completed : Game GM Players Finish Turn Alliance Spiral Mark 29 58 alliance Rob G1 Rob 44 62 alliance Circle Rob 23 72 alliance Globe Rob 15 50 alliance Rob G2 John 21 42 alliance Game 1 Russell 29 65 no alliance Game 2 Russell 15 71 no alliance Game 4 Russell 31 115 no alliance Game 5 Russell 14 63 no alliance Game 6 Russell 64 81 no alliance Game 7 Russell 50 117 no alliance Square Kev 28 80 no alliance Clarke Howard 32 65 no alliance Zeus Howard 20 56 alliance Insanity Novak 15 102 no alliance Enigma Novak 30 82 no alliance Alzarius Novak 35 75 no alliance Gamma Novak 34 92 alliance Beta Novak 54 88 no alliance Littlun Novak 17 76 no alliance Flat Jcho 24 79 alliance Mad Martin 18 61 no alliance Name Email Address Total Points Game Game Points Bill Larson Bill_Larson@ncsu.edu 64.0 Game 6 64.0 Drachenreiter temme@jupiter.informatik.uni-dortmund.de 54.0 Beta 54.0 Bjorn H.
