: sounds like a balrog.  If you're a Freep, definitely flee.  If you're a DS, you

I had 2 Free characters die by this encounter about 5 months ago.
It is a balrog.  And it's still in there, it will kill your characters.
If you are free, then flee.  If you are dark, then go for it, see if you
can't recruit the balrog.  It's tough, I know that.
