However, if someone is casting Block Missile, they are not doing other
things.  I have noticed that Priests will generally be hit in melee right
after they block one of my missiles :)  In general, it is a good way to
keep them occupied while your fighters are cutting a path to them.

Another option is hurling a weapon.  I have hurled clubs (generally don't
make it through armor and only do slight damage), Halberds (did slight
damage against lightly armored opponents) and short spear (level 1 hurl,
1 wsp took out a giant rat with one hit).  Sticking to short spears
(light weight, medium damage).  On a level 3 adventure with a 500 PL
group, my character hit 4/6 times hurling at level one with level one
weapons.
