One colony and two SMS Ground Parties were "obliterated" off the face of Moon Hoylex this week. A combined attack of Pittsburgh's Space and Ground forces against the three SMS positions was, according to Lord Powell Horn, "a cake walk". An additional RIP Ground Party RIP Squish was sent to the former site of SMS Rip Basher. The only thing visible was a crater where the colony was. The GP Leader, ENS Powell Horn, JR, commented that SMS RIP Basher "Got Bashed", and wasn't in need of squishing. Lord Horn was heard to say that the SMS must be trying to probe his forces to determine what may be needed for an assault later. He was then seen writing out a manifest for his factories and heard mumbling something about replacing the 200 ground fighters lost. ------------------------------ From: RTGames@aol.com Date: Mon, 7 Nov 1994 22:48:21 -0500 Subject: Re: BSE: Bad Ships It's certainly my intention to raise the total # of available ship classes to well beyond the current limit, to allow affiliation researchers to work on a variety of new ship classes....this should let them fill any holes that they perceive may be hampering their expansion efforts.... While barhopping, you walk into a small bar. You immediately realize that the majority of patrons are military types, from a few just-off-duty still in uniform to the haircuts of those wearing civilian clothes. You take a seat in a far corner so as to not draw attention to yourself. Nearby are 2 soldiers arguing. One is an officer in the Imperial Navy, while the other is obviously, from his many scars, a grizzled veteran of many ground battles. You notice that the veteran is wearing the unit patch of the 2nd Armor Div. You remember this unit's 66th Armor Regiment has foughta campaign against the pirates lately. You overhear the veteran to say: "...wadda ya mean we have to go Jemian now? Have you ever been there? It's a dump! Besides, send one of the other divisions, it'll take too long for us to reunite the entire division...." You want to hear more but a hand on your shoulder, which is attached to the biggest soldier you've ever seen, along with a group of his buddies, stops you. The soldier says, "The general likes his privacy, perhaps you'ld better leave." Realizing that this can save an awful lot of pain and several weeks in the hospital complexes, you quickly agree, and do. ------------------------------ From: steve668@dallas.relay.ucm.org Date: Tue, 8 Nov 1994 15:41:41 CST Subject: BSE: Thoughts on Ship Limits Thomas Moe, Sorry... it's an American joke: the stereotypical used car salesman. Blaster burns? Sir, you wound me! Why those are merely custom features specially ordered and installed for her, and just take a look at this odometer: only 3,000 light years on her. Just check out this Engine: a supercharged SSL model guaranteed to go from 0 to 0.7 in only 3.8 seconds! Look at these captains seat covers: genuine Lemite skin, with simulated blaster burns for that "authentic" look! Just make us an offer, but you need to hurry because a young couple from FET Clove are coming by later, and they have their eyes on this cherry! Each Command Hull can hold 40 MUs. Main Hulls are 180 MUs in size and require 120 METALS/NONMETALS, 60 JACIUM, and 20 PROCESSED THORLIUM to build. Each Main Hull can hold 40 MUs, except when used in cargo vessels they can hold 60 MUs. Engine Hulls are 210 MUs in size and requires 140 METALS/NONMETALS, 70 JACIUM, and 40 PROCESSED THORLIUM to build. Each Engine Hull can hold 40 MUs. The affiliation hull-shift bonus is moved from the affiliation to the ships that they build. QSN built ships hold 44 MUs per hull, cargo vessels built by them hold 64 MUs per hull in the Main section. ZCS built ships hold 45 MUs per hull, cargo vessels built by them hold 65 MUs per hull in the Main section. EKN built ships hold 50 MUs per hull, cargo vessels built by them hold 70 MUs per hull in the Main section. FOE built ships hold 60 MUs per hull. MYR built ships hold 180 MUs per hull. The MYR ship size limit is moved up to 60 hulls. PFM built ships hold 80 MUs per hull, cargo vessels built by them can hold 120 MUs per hull in the Main section, other races can not use PFM ships. ITS owned cargo vessels can hold 65 MUs per hull in the Main section. === Jump Engines are 40 MUs in size and require 40 METS and 4 PULAC to build. Thrust Engines are 20 MUs in size and require 20 METs and 2 FISS to build. The standard base speed divisor is changed from .7 to .6, those affiliations with a .5 divisor now have a .4 divisor (FGZ & SSL). The minium base speed is lowered ot 0.5 (includes MYR ships). === The damage done by a Space Fighter is increased to 50. The ammo required for a Plasma Projector is decreased to 4 METS, damage stays the same. Shields protect ships from 40 MUs of damage, colony protection of 6 MUs remains the same. === I think the above suggestions/proposals will put some new life into the ships and make the game more playable.
