Suggestions for games? From: keith.langley@mdcs.com (Keith Langley) Date: Thu, 17 Nov 1994 18:23:34 +0000 I'd like to suggest you look at ONE TRUE FAITH. I'm biased - I wrote it and run it. Complexity is right about what you're looking for, and I find that (contrary to popular belief) running this as I do with human moderation (computer-assisted for some automatic stuff) results in many FEWER mistakes than computer-moderated and coded orders - a human can edit for intent and common sense, knows that your armies can't swim, etc. OTF game #3 is awaiting at least six players before it can start (#2 just started and is full). The game lends itself to alliances, but there are currently no rules for "team" play, and obviously a 4 player firm alliance in a game with a 12 player maximum would either win quickly and boringly, or force a counter-alliance to emerge. Turns are $10 and run about 25 days apart. There is no provision for an electronic "front end", but I will accept Emailed turns in plain text. Players are deities competing for worshippers on a fantasy world - the map is Europe and the Mediterranean coast, with 176 provinces, but the population includes hobbits, beastmen, necromancers, elves, the usual assortment of critters...You can conquer unbvelievers by the sword, but there are many other tools at Your disposal: miracles (earthquakes, plagues of locusts, good weather, etc.), theological debate (which involves exchanging riddles or puzzles with other players as an optional resolution system), preaching, martyrdom, temples, disturbances and riots, etc. Imagine the computer game POPULOUS crossed with WARHAMMER FANTASY BATTLES, and twisted a few degrees off center...
