(Sugg Reply to: RE>BSE: New GP Type? (Suggestion) It's a good idea ..... But it implies that you can't just offload something on a moon and find it there when you get back, or else why would you need a <<cache GP>>? You can't do that anymore? We used to routinely dump things off, at least I think we did. (Suggestion) Phil, It's a good idea, but there's a solution that might be simpler to implement. RTG seems to be interested in focusing on "patch-type" game changes as opposed to major additions like a whole new class of position. I don't know that creating a new position type would require a relatively large amount of work, but my current understanding of the BSE programs suggests that it would. Instead of the new position type, they could simply add a patch to the GP routine that would check to see if morale influenced/support requiring "items" are in the GP, if not the morale subroutine would be skipped. If this approach adds too much of a burden on turn processing (or if the program isn't structured), the check would occur at the point when the GP goes out of supply. The supply would be incremented another 14 weeks and the morale reset. MP used to do this manually for my GPs. Specifically you hid behind a profile that no longer applies--RTG has invalidated all profiles, remember. It is now up to the players to run the affiliations as they see fit. Until/unless you can back up your claims of power over your affiliation, do not attempt to negotiate with me. However, since players now control their own destinies, we expect you guys will end up dealing with each other much more than you did in the past and that might result in some of the NPC positions being igorned. It's up to you, though. We'll follow NPC profiles and goals and they'll keep on chugging along as they have in the past. I will get it out as soon as possible, though. Sorry for the delay, but some other matters have come to the fore that require immediate attention. Hold on, not that much longer. Thad ------------------------------ From: Christopher Allen <gtt-pd@consensus.com> Date: Mon, 19 Dec 1994 14:24:34 -0800 Subject: BSE: Destruction of a GTT Posted Ship On week 49 of 194, GTT Colony Bome on Capella in the Capellan System destroyed the AFT Ship Haul-A-Way #1086 because it was on the GTT Posted List under it's former name AFT Ship Hallway #1086. My records show that it was posted by a previous GTT-PD quite some time ago for violations against the GTT. We understand that the current owner of AFT Haul-A-Way may not have known that his ship was on the GTT Posted List. It is not the responsibility of GTT to keep track of ship ownership changes, thus we suggest that the owner get compensation from the previous owner of the ship who did not disclose his liabilities to the GTT. This action leaves the RIP Ship Death Serpent #3789 as the only remaining ship on the GTT Posted List, and the MYR Ship Stardust #3872 is the only remaining ship posted at Bome. No other ships are posted at any other non-probationary GTT colony other than those already on the IMP Posted List. If you have captured either of those ships please inform us as soon as possible so that we may remove them from our Posted Lists. NOTE: GTT Colony Vallia #4265 on Yule in Krakki System is under probation, and we don't know who or what the colony manager may have posted there. GTT accepts no liability for any actions of GTT Colony Vallia or the ships calling that colony home port: GTT Primavera II #2014, Vercingetoriz II #2653, and Hypatia II #3775. If you have any complaints against that colony or those ships, please let us know in case GTT needs to take further actions beyond probation. Contact (in total confidence) > Lord Den of Earth with your offer. > (think BIG guys!) > Bests- > Hmmm. Just to inform you guys of one little fact. The GM's have officially ruled that ship tech can not be transferred in any form. Under the new system, you may be able to reverse engineer the ship and the aid of the original race that built the ship can help, but this will just make the size of the research project a bit smaller. As to selling photon guns, I am not sure, but it was my understanding that affliation tech could not be transferred using the licensing command. If the photon guns are stored under the tech list of the colony, I assume it can be liscensed out. If this is true, can the FGZ inform us of this, because we would be interested in purchasing this. ------------------------------ From: steve668@dallas.relay.ucm.org Date: Wed, 21 Dec 1994 20:12:42 CST Subject: [none] BSE Short Story continued Krag furiously issued targeting orders to his gun crews, as fast as his computers could identify the Imperial Ships. He noticed that 2 squadrons broke away from the Imperial fleet and began attacking the northern Positron Gun batteries. The computer identified the first squadron as the Koenigs. Krag remembered this sqaudron as one of those present in the battle of Upreach; one of the squadrons responsible for the destruction of the Foelian fleet. He immediately issued retargeting orders and watched in satisfaction as 2 of the Koenigs exploded under the hail of fire from the demon gunners. Krag turned his attention back to the identification computer and realized that he had issued orders too soon. The second squadron was the hated ITS Battle Squadron.... yes, there was it's flagship, ITS Prinz Luitpold, commanded by Vice Admiral Graf von Monts, the Imperial Admiral who had orchestrated the destruction of the Foelian fleet. Krag watched as the remaining Koenigs overloaded the shields, and the ITS Squadron vaporized the northern batteries. Krag checked readouts from the various batteries, and within seconds, he realized that none were left alive... all Foelian defenses had been destroyed by the Imperial fleet. In desperation, he launched the last of the defenses, 2 squadrons of space fighters. Their target, ISP Ostfriesland; the closest Dreadnought, which was even now blasting huge chunks out of the ground defense ring. He knew that a mere 2 squadrons could do little more than be a minor annoyance to a Dreadnought, but there was nothing left. Krags computer room shook violently, and bits of ferro-plastic fell from the ceiling as cracks began to appear in the walls of the reinforced command bunker. He heard the Demon high priest Lang, governor of Demons Gorge, issue an order to abandon the space defense ring. As he rushed to obey, the ceiling collapsed as the bunker began to disintegrate under the massive bombardment of the Imperial fleet. This was a class 6 colony, it should've been able to hold up better than this, he thought. He ran into another demon in the hall corridor running in the wrong direction. As he shouted the High Priest's orders, the other shouted back that the underground escape tunnels had been collapsed during the bombardment; the only chance left was to gamble with the intense firepower hitting the colony and make a run for it in the streets. When Krag reached the street, he was greeted by a scene of destruction that reminded him of the Foelian wars with the Pennokans. The devastation of the colony was so complete that very little was left standing. As he started to run for the safety of the Inner ring, he saw the last of the ground defense ring explode under intense disrupter fire. Huge chunks of the Inner ring were already burning under the blaze of fire from the Imperial fleet. He looked up. What is that ship approaching? More of them now? Assault transports? That was the last thought Krag would think, as the gunnery officer was vaporized by a blast of an ICN Dreadnought sweeping the fleeing demons from the streets. ------------------------------ End of BSE Digest V1 #34 ************************ To subscribe to bse-digest, send the command: subscribe bse-digest in the body of a message to "Majordomo@io.com".
