At a press conference at Jax, ISP PD von Ludendorf announced the destruction of the Foelian colony Demons Gorge, and the retaking of Jovian. Almost 2 years ago, the Foelians attacked and captured GTT colony Agate on the planet Little, with assistance from the pirates, and claimed Jovian as Foelian territory. The Imperial response at that time, met with disaster as the fleet of Dreadnoughts set in then was annihilated. One year ago, the Imperials swept the Foelian fleet from the spaceways of Jovian, but the expected attack never occured due to time becoming frozen. In a massive battle, the scope of which will place the battle of Demons Gorge in the history books of the Periphery, the Empire retook their territory. Film footage shot aboard the captured RIP Corsair, Flagship, shows there was a RIP ship present, defending the colony, but this ship fell to a squadron of Imperial ships while the rest of the Imperial fleet proceeded to destroy the colony. When asked about why so few ships targeted the RIP ship, PD von Ludendorf replied that "...we knew about it beforehand...". The destruction of the RIP ship Falcon's Claw was credited to the captured RIP war cruiser ITS Black Dawn, whose fire literally split the pirate vessel in two as it tried to run from the Imperial fleet. First blood against the FOE colony was credited to ISP Koenig, which blew out the shields of the ground combat ring, and proceeded to inflict damage. Destuction of the Shadow Gate is credited to ISP Posen, which reduced the colony below class-5, causing the shadow gate to collapse. While a list of ships present was distributed at the press conference, the list is far too long to recount here. Imperial losses consisted of a mere 4 Dreadnoughts: ISP Lothringen, ISP Kronprinz, ISP Grosser Kurfuerst, & ICN Star Rover. Imperial sources indicate that replacement dreadnoughts have already been built and are being armed. ISP sources indicate that to maintain unit cohesion, the replacement dreadnoughts will carry the same names as their predecessors. ICN Public Affairs Officers were unavailable for comment at time of press deadline. When asked what the Empire intended to do with the remains of Demons Gorge, PD von Ludendorf stated that he would give it to the GTT; that it was their property before the demons came, and technically still is. He further added that since there was little left of the colony, it having recieved over 1 million mu of damage, that the Empire had no desire it. When asked what the Empire's plans were now, the Star Admiral commented that the driving of the Foelians from the Periphery was a Christmas gift for His Imperial Majesty, Kaiser Jasil [ooc: ref. IMP profile; the Emperor considers the FOE to be an insult against his person]. And that since the RIP has been crushed for the time, and the FOE driven back, he would now look to unfinished business. He further added that since the WCE government has given the IMP permission to pursue the RIP into WCE territory, there were several RIP colonies out in Trans-Hole that might need to be visited by the Emperors justice. One last item of note from the conference, IMP sources refused comment on the ship ISP Friedrich der Grosse. Most video shown at the press conference had been edited deleting this ship from it, however one clip was missed and showed a triangular ship which dwarfed all the Dreadnoughts and even the captured PGJ cargo carrier which was present. ISP marines quickly helped the cameraman outside, when he suddenly took ill after this clip was shown. Joe Bob Briggs UPI News - ------------------------- OOC: To silence the several phone calls and inquiries, I do the "Briggs" character for fun. I hate to write, so before anyone else asks, no I won't write any articles for any magazines, newsletters, or whatever. If you want to steal from my "news updates" be my guest. If you want to compete against UPI, be my guest (remember UPI's major competitor is Associated Press <AP>). That covers the majority of those line of questions. adios, Steve ------------------------------ From: Richard Chiang <richc@ocf.Berkeley.EDU> Date: Thu, 22 Dec 1994 03:27:48 -0800 (PST) Subject: BSE: Rumors if I spread them. 1. The Big news of the day is the resurgence of the Samilian Empire. With David Cromer's recent post on Compuserve and the fact that all Samilian factions are currently run makes me think that we all have some nail biting to do. All I know is that the SDL don't exist anymore and I doubt anyone killed all their assets in one turn. Hmm. You work on the rest. 2. I here Wayne Alexander is making ships these days so maybe we should change his designation on the BSE list from inactive to ???? 3. Rumor says that certain governments were seen raiding a unplayed colony. Question is: Is this an abuse of the pickup code?? 4. Big changes in the periphery as the universe seems to have come alive again. Many affliations seem to be making a lot of big deals. I expect a rash of stuff before the new system. 5. Alippon Alippon. Is it moving?? Is it a depot colony?? New Jump Links?? But definitely a large army has been spotted that way. I wonder what it is for and what happened to that star gate in Limond. 6. Wow, I hear star gate transit times will be heading down maybe. So many star gates seem to be exploding under less than normal circumstances. Is it a conspiracy and who would gain from it? 7. What this from RTG about time lines?? Any speculations on what could cause one? 8. I have seen a lot of IND positions floating around. I wonder where they may be going. 9. New ship class spotted and it's not our Cargo Master. Name of the ship is xxxxxx Platform. No more details. Hopefully we will be selling some soon. 10. Attack on Pittsburgh?? 11. Those IMP seem awfully active. RIP FOE. Ouch I hate to be in their shoes. Just a little tidbit: A certain Imperial was heard commenting on funeral proceedings to be held at a certain FGZ colony. You can fill in the rest. 12. What's this about raids of Geneb?? Don't ask me how I know, but some IND ships were spotted on the surface of some planets there. I could be wrong or maybe the Snittians are rising from the grave. 13. SSL under new management that is really old 14. Woah. Did I just see an AFT fleet?? 15. Rumors of an exodus of QSN colonists bound for places unknown of yet. You have to wonder what they are up to. 16. An affliation coming apart at the seams??? Hard to say. Good luck all. If you have some rumors to be spread and don't want it attributed to you, email me with it and I will include it in my next release. Our reporter Sarah Burser caught up with AFT council member Thomas Payne as he was leaving AFT headquarters at Hope here on Utopia MCXVI." "Minister Payne! Sarah Burser here from UNN. Do you have anything to say concerning the GTT's attack on the AFT ship Haul-a-way?" "I'm sorry Miss, but the AFT and myself have no comment at this time. I will say that a full meeting of the High Council has been planned and we will be giving this matter our full attention at that time. That's all I have to say for now. Thank-you and goodnight." "Well there you have it folks. The AFT's official word at this time is 'No Comment'. This is Sarah Burser, live on scene at AFT headquarters. We'll keep you update on further developments concerning this potential conflict between these two large affiliations." <end broadcast> ------------------------------ End of BSE Digest V1 #35 ************************ To subscribe to bse-digest, send the command: subscribe bse-digest in the body of a message to "Majordomo@io.com".
