All ROC positions, and all colonies, ground parties and ships within the Republic must set their combat program to 'ATTACK ALL ROC POSTED'. I hope they realize this means merchant class ships must attack all posted, or be in violation of thier laws.........of course, they could be so warlike as to not own, and have no intention of owning, any merchant ships. Funny how that works. ex-ISP Canberra (2887) is and hopefully will remain a FOE ship. As for ADM Seafeather, if I still have the ship it only makes since that I still have him as well. If the second of the battles could not have happened then there is no way that the first could have. But all of this is old news and we can go on forever about it. Let's face MP told both of us what we wanted to hear. Hopefully those days are over. I also have to retract anything that was said about the second series of battles at Demon's Gorge. Shadowgates as originally created were ment to replace the need for FOE merchants. In the past they have been established at colonies as small as size 1 with full GM knowledge and functioned properly. The only requirement for colony size was in the inital claiming of a system. Unfortunatley as time goes by rules change and the ability to adapt to this change is neccessary for the good of the game. Congrats on the capture of Demon's Gorge and removal of the FOElian hordes from within IMP controled space. Last but not least with regard to your p.s. > The ICN Admiral informs me that he escaped the battle in a lifepod and is now aboard a replacement ship.... I can see it now. NAVIGATOR: Sir, we are about to enter the orbit of the planet Little, what are your orders. IMP ADM: Very will...proceed with the battle as briefed, XO you have the bridge, I'll be right back. WEAPONS OFFICER: We are about to come under fire, all hand brace for shock. NAVIGATOR: Sir, I have indications that one of our lifepods has accidently fired. XO: Don't worry about that now, we're about to be hit. ...moments later the ship is hit in the command section 21662 mu's of damage, killing all hands. Just who was in that lifepod that mysteriously ejected, how is that ICN ADM Allen Landover managed to survive when the rest of the ship's crew was instantly vaporized. The world may never know, but it will surely wonder. Wade. p.s. Steve, I've always admired the way that the IMP always led from the front and were willing to take the risks of combat and accept it when loses were taken. I hope that this is not a picture of what those that fly under the IMP flag are becoming. ------------------------------ From: Marilith1@aol.com Date: Wed, 4 Jan 1995 15:40:10 -0500 Subject: Re: BSE: -No Subject- Derek, You are right, originally the only restrictions on a Shadowgate was that the colony had to be a size 5 in order to set one up in a previously unclaimed system (Special FOElian Expansion Rule #4). Up until now we have been able to operate shadowgates on any size colony within FOE controled space. This may explain why the FOE build no merchant class vessels. (No the Inquisator is not a merchant, it is a scout just like the SAM Scout Explorers or the FGZ Scout). Unfortunately the new administration (RTG) has decided that this is too great an ability for any affiliation to have and therefore have decided to limit there use to colonies of size 5 or greater. I have no major problems with this, and definitely understand thier reasoning. Thier decision was fair and we of the FOE will live with it. Gentlebeings, While the player v. player sniping by all means should be moved to private e-mail, a great deal of the gov't-gov't posturing is both interesting and relevant to the game as a whole. So I for one am eager to read the discussions re: battle reports, piracy claims, tresspassing countercharges, trade violations/agreements, et al. It may be best to dispatch a collegue of Joe Bob Briggs to the scene as this is obviously an active issue of fair importance for those of us depending on the "news" for a great deal of our extra-affiliation awareness of the game.
