A new pirate, Ens. Knobb of the RIP ship Blind Ambition (Fast Freighter #3115), committed the error of his life by entering orbit around an Imperial Naval Base. IMP Hibernia vaporized the young pirate. A RIP source was reported to comment: "*BOB* save us from the stupidity of rookies." * Jovian system, planet Little; 194-51. A Flagritz scout, FGZ Dumb Luck (3696) attempted to come to the aid of the Demons by attacking the Imperial Battlegroup. The ITS Battle squadron, commanded by VAdm. Graf von Monts, engaged and destroyed this Flagritz vessel. Civillian anaylsts are beginning to wonder why the Imperials have not responded to what is now 4 slaps in the face. * Jovian system, planet Little, IMP Demon's Gorge; 194-51 The Foelians attempted to recapture their foothold in Imperial space by sending a regiment of 3000 Demons through the shadowgate to retake the colony, in addition to sending through 4 additional GP's to build 4 airbase's. The Demon Regiment walked into the waiting Disrupter fire of the Imperial fleet and an Imperial Armor Battalion; not a single demon survived, and no losses were taken by IMperial Ground forces. Meanwhile a vicious naval battle was fought by the Imperial fleet and the demon airbases. In the end, the demon bases were lost, and the Imperial Armor Battalion destroyed the Shadowgate so that no further demon reinforcements would bother the civillians. ISP sources reported that the planet Little, and the space square it is in is now declared a war zone. No ships of any affiliation will be tolerated, till this declaration is lifted. Apparantly, information has reached the ISP about the existance of a secret RIP colony there, and the colony is being hunted down for destruction. The Periphery Red Cross announced that 342 slaves were freed at Demon's Gorge. The slaves will be evacuated to the hospital at IMP Independence for full medical examination, and mental treatments (to remove memories of the horrors endured at the hands of the demons). The survivors will then be evacuated to IMP Jax to be reunited with their families in the GTT. Already intersystem shuttles are beginning to bring in the eager family members from GTT Bome and other GTT colonies. In a strange twist, ISP PD von Ludendorf announced the official gratitude of the Imperial Governement to the Demons, for the gift of the teleporters captured and for the gift of all the plague shells the demons were stockpiling in preparation to use on an unsuspecting Periphery. Thanks were also offered for something else captured, but Imperial sources refused to disclose what it was, simply saying that the demons would know what was captured. But it's a lot like the mayor of New York declaring that the name of New York is now Port Augustus. He'd probably be recalled/laughed out of town. A small unmanned deep space probe was retrieved with no known transponder ID. The casing was scarred and fused in sections, as if from intense gravimeterics and heat. Readings of the harmonics at the quantum level would have one believe that this device had recently made a poorly executed BHT. Most curious of all, a Jacium/Thorlium Data Disc was found containing the following text. - --- recording begins --- INTRODUCTION In 190 the newly discovered Draconian Periphery became quickly became a haven for freedom lovers, smugglers, adventurers, rebels and misfits from throughout the Stellar Empire. In 191/38 these pioneers formed the Republic of Corona (ROC) for mutual protection, governance and benefit. The ROC quickly became the most successful affiliation in the Draconian Periphery as it explored and developed the newly discovered Systems. In 194/43 the PTE merged with the ROC and the capital of the Republic was established at ROC Corona. The ROC is a constitutional democracy, its citizens are fiercely loyal, Proud and patriotic, they fear the power and greed of the Stellar Empire. TERRITORY, CITIZENS, GOALS The ROC is a governmental affiliation, its Territory is the Fortoon system and all systems adjacent to the Fortoon System, in addition to any systems or portions of systems that the Republic may subsequently claim. Any colonist, ship crew member or soldier normally resident within the Territory of the ROC, or a member of an ROC position is a citizen of the Republic. The goal of the ROC is to protect the civil and property rights of its citizens. It is the duty of every ROC citizen to seek the destruction of ROC posted positions by any available means. LAWS 1. The ROC Periphery Director serves as the President of the Republic has sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution. The PD may grant exceptions to the ROC Laws, and may post any position or group of positions without warning or justification. The PD may post positions which violate the laws of the ROC. 2. All space squares, alien artifacts, flora, fauna, minerals and heavenly bodies within the Territory of the Republic are the property of the Republic, held in trust for its citizens. 3. It is illegal to commit an aggressive act against any non-posted position within the Territory of the ROC. 4. It is illegal to deprive, deny, or constrain the civil or property rights of ROC citizens, or the property rights of the Republic. 5. A governmental affiliation is an affiliation which claims one or more systems or portions of systems. It is illegal for positions belonging to governmental affiliations other than the ROC to exist in The Republic without prior arrangement. ROC positions are expected to obey the laws of the governmental affiliation which claims their location, as well as the Laws of the ROC. 6. Ships from non-governmental affiliations major travel freely through the Republic. Non-ROC ground parties or colonies are not permitted within the Republic without prior arrangement. usually ROC Chartered affiliations are permitted to establish colonies and ground parties within the Republic, such colonies and ground parties would be composed of ROC citizens and required to obey the laws of the ROC. The ROC may also offer citizenship to the colonies of ROC chartered affiliations outside the Republic. 7. All ROC positions, and all colonies, ground parties and ships within the Republic must set their combat program to 'ATTACK ALL ROC POSTED'. 8. All systems not within the Territory of the ROC are ROC Free Fire Zones. - --- recording ends --- This reporter was not fooled. This is an obvious hoax. Such a blatant attempt by the Imperials, or whomever, to play on the fears of the Joe imperial citizen by creating some evil, war-mongering group in the new frontier will surely fail. This will not slow the expansion of freedom loving beings into the no frontier. Not really, Izac Neutin/Port Augustus is basically a minor frontier colony in the grand scheme of things so it's not really any more different then when New Amsterdam had it's name changed to New York - besides it was put to a vote of the citizens in the colony and passed (of course I did heavily bribe them with goodies <g>).
