Olympia: Oleg declares Jihad, film at 11 From: gl8f@fermi.clas.Virginia.EDU (Greg Lindahl) Date: Thu, 12 Jan 1995 15:09:33 +0000 Whereas the Ancient Order of Olympians (AOO), lead by the once-killed Baconlet tuce Andtomatoe, have been behaving like bandits since the start of the game, and Whereas these self-same AOO members have practiced the "Big Lie" to conceal their nefarious banditry ("Yes, officer, I just had to mug that grandmother, she looked askance at me!"), and Whereas these self-same AOO members are attacking and taking other faction's castles, and threaten to take over the entire world (In fact, that's their goal), I, Oleg the Loudmouth [b2q], do hereby declare Holy War against the AOO. Many factions have been attacked already by the AOO, are already working together to defeat them. If you wish to help, send me a message and I will give you advice. Confidentiality is assured. Act now before it's too late: the fate of the world rests in our hands. p.s. For those of you who doubt my claims about their banditry, Dr. Pain spanked another player this turn. I repeat here the player's post from Compuserve. Dr. Pain makes a very efficient bandit --- now let's make ourselves a MORE efficent set of law enforcers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- #: 613114 S5/Fantasy Games 11-Jan-95 23:14:08 Sb: OLY: I Quit Fm: Walter J. Wilkins I 73302,3544 To: All Well, I restarted after getting beat by the AOO with the IN. Then I built a ship and left Provinia as fast as I could. I headed for land that had little known traffic. After four turns at sea, I arrived at an apparently litely explored continent (Tollus). There were no land claims, and no posted arnings associated with the area, but there was a castle to the north. I visited the City of Yellowleaf just long enough to start studying and began to head away from the castle and it's Garrison (owned by Dr., Pain). Apparently the people playing the AOO do not want anyone else to play Olympia. Dr. Pain and company attacked my peaceful party which primarily consisted of my six nobles and a limited number of soldiers, etc. We had made no threats, and were moving away from them. Province controlled by Shangri-La [u91], castle, in Mountain [ch48] Ruled by Achilles [fd6v], duke Games are supposed to be fun, but these clowns have taken all the fun out of it for me. I very much wanted to continue exploring and learning what was available in the game. I think it is very unfortunate that a new player can't do anything with his/her own faction on their own. The only way to survive is by combining large numbers factions together, just for a hope of safety. Of course by joining together it appears that the AOO then sees you as a threat and either attacks or leaves you no choice but to attack. Well they win. I quit. I said I would give the game another chance. So far it has cost me 62.50 for the AOO to have fun. I realize that it is just a game, but this is BS!! I don't play in "wargames" much because the object is to get rid of other players, and I always considered that counterproductive for good long-term gaming Rich, you have been great. I wish you luck in your endeavors. I took your advise when I restarted, and I lasted less turns than I did in the initial start. I realize that there are other factions out there who have had better luck, but believe me, it is only a matter of time. These clowns are going to cost you money Rich. When my recently posted check arrives, please deduct what I owe, and send me the rest. Thanks again for all your help. Can someone give me an e-mail address for Dr. Pain's owner? I would like to send them a thankyou note for saving me the $2.50 a week that I would probably have spent on this game for as long as it lasted. I wish all those who survive, good gaming. Hope to see you in another game soon. Disappointed and PO'd Wally Referenced By Up
