SpyKor Corp. Espionage Game Starting From: mikec@eden.com (Mike Childress) Date: Mon, 09 Jan 1995 00:57:14 +0000 Keywords: SpyKor Sudden Asylum Sudden Asylum is taking registration now for the first InterNet Email games of SpyKor, a near-future corporate espionage game. It is anticipated that the game will begin running in 2 weeks or so. In this closed-ended wargame, each player takes on the role of a CEO of one of 8 Korporatis (Kors), or multi-national corporations that have since replaced governments. Using your spies, diplomats, bio-engineered troops, the stock market, and a LOT of fast-paced treachery, you attempt to either annihiliate the other 7 positions, meet certain private victory conditions, or to amass a net worth of 250,000 credits (the money unit used in the game). The game is interesting in that, while you will need to use military to some degree to win, overt military activity turns the populace against you, reducing your industrial capacity, lowering your Public Relations score, and perhaps forcing you from the game. SpyKor will be run here on the Net weekly with turns running $2.50/ turn. Set-up is free, as are turns 4-6. Players will submit their orders in a normal text file in the format specified in the SpyKor rulebook. At such time as the player front-end is up and running, you may choose to download this from an ftp-site yet to be determined and submit your turns in that manner. SpyKor has been reviewed favorably in Shadis and has advertised in Paper Mayhem and Flagship. Playtests have also been conducted in the COmpuServe PBM Forum. Player reaction has been quite positive because of the fast-paced action and the unusual twist on the wargame theme. If you are interested in playing, please send me email to that effect at either: mikec@asylum.eden.com OR mikec@eden.com. Eventually this will be changed to mikec@asylum.net, but that is yet to be setup. Upon hearing from you, I will email you uu-encoded files containing the rulebook, sample turns, and game overview. Up
