Description:

Inspired largely by movies such as Logan�s Run, Island, and Aeonflux, this
is a game of exploration and discovery, deception and enlightenment,
utopia and grim reality.  For the players the world is a single city in
which the last vestiges of human civilization have survived a massive war
of annihilation brought on by desperation for raw materials.  The surface
of the planet, you�ve been told, is no longer inhabitable.  Rather the
ozone layer has been depleted by the abuses of mankind.  It has been
scorched to lifelessness.  To travel there would be suicide.

Survivors (players) come from all walks of life, many being scientists,
professionals, artists, but also criminals.  To maintain a genetic pool
the Council couldn�t be choosy.  There are peculiarities of the population
though.  There are no elderly.	In fact, no one in New Eden is past his or
her mid-thirties.  Children are rather rare as well, though there are a
few.

Life in New Eden is highly controlled.	Everyone has tasks they are
assigned.  There are exercise periods, study periods.  Social harmony is
enforced.  But intimacy is forbidden and disapproved of.  Strong emotions
of any type are disapproved of for that matter � and dealt with by
counseling (translation � brainwashing).  Intimacy is approached as a
subject that led to mankind�s self-destruction.  And it is likewise
pointed out that New Eden can�t handle overpopulation.	It would be
selfish to want what no one else can have either.  (Fact is, everyone is
sterile.)

It was the mid 21st century when the war started.  Memories of the war are
distorted.  Scars you were sure you had are gone.  People who were blind
can see.  Cripples � are things of the past.  The creators of New Eden
obviously had state of the art medical technology.

Life is good in New Eden.  It�s � perfect.  It is also � boring.  Most
people have adapted to the new life.  Everything is socialized.  No more
worries about your job, bills, medical treatment, or food.  But life is
also stale.  For some, there is a desire for � freedom.  You can�t just
take a motorcycle out for a death defying thrill ride.	Such behavior
isn�t tolerated.  No more boxing matched or rollerball or anything like
it.  Those are violent sports.	And rock and roll or rap?  Gone.  Oh yes,
life in New Eden is perfect.  Just keep telling yourself that.
