Unit 11 would issue the order: > sell to 15 20 wood for 1000 > and unit 15 would issue the order: > buy from 11 20 wood for 1000 > If the orders didn't match in any field, the transaction would not take > place, and the wood and silver would remain in the hands of their > respective owners. I Like it, but I would take it a little further. The match up on the second "price field need not be exact. On a sell order it would be required that the corresponding Buy order be = or greater than your sell price, thus establishing a floor price. I would also allow a sell to highest bidder order where the faction/unit bidding the highest amount over your floor price gets the goods. This would allow a true marketplace to occur. You absolutely neccessary. A second issue is barter, which could be handled by adding a final item\ field wherin you specifiy what units you want to trade in, ie silver, wood, whatever. This allows units, neither of which have surplus cash to trade. -- Matthew Taylor matthew@clark.net -- Matthew Taylor matthew@clark.net ---------------------------------------------------------- From owner-atl-design@tango.rahul.net Fri Jan 20 16:11:33 1995 Return-Path: <owner-atl-design@tango.rahul.net> Received: from tango.rahul.net by microplex.com (4.1/SMI-4.1/920826) id AA05335; Fri, 20 Jan 95 16:11:33 PST Received: by tango.rahul.net id AA24388 (5.67b8/IDA-1.5 for real-atl-design); Fri, 20 Jan 1995 15:43:08 -0800 Received: from eliza.cc.brandeis.edu by tango.rahul.net with SMTP id AA24347 (5.67b8/IDA-1.5 for <atl-design@tango.rahul.net>); Fri, 20 Jan 1995 15:42:39 -0800 Received: by eliza.cc.brandeis.edu (5.57/Ultrix3.0-C) id AA14599; Fri, 20 Jan 95 18:45:30 -0500 Message-Id: <9501202345.AA14599@eliza.cc.brandeis.edu> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Date: Fri, 20 Jan 1995 18:45:52 -0500 To: atl-design@tango.rahul.net From: varela@eliza.cc.brandeis.edu (Juan A. I doubt that Geoff will tell us anything about this (we need to find out ourselves), but the rules do give a hint. It refers to latitudes, Jungle and Tundra, and freezing weather except in the tropics. That seems to suggest a normal world.
