Ideas welcome here folks! This problem would go away if AOL users could use a non-proportional font. I don't know if that's possible when displaying to the screen, but I do know that when I print to my printer while viewing AOL news I get a non- proportional font and everything is swell. Local Alipponian officials ushered the dignataries into the Alipponian statehouse, where the three met behind closed doors for several hours. When the three emerged at 1330 the next day, they exchanged somber handshakes all around, and then proceeded to their respective ships, which then lifted into the blazing afternoon sun. No official announcement was forthcoming from any of the three governments, but insiders here speculate that the purpose of the summit was to help ensure the political stability of the Transhole region, especially with regards to the recent attempts by several affiliations to establish a powerbase within the Transhole itself. IND Alippon is renowned for its political neutrality, and so was a natural choice to be host of such a summit. If you want changes, then submit research proposals. I especially don't like changes that are retro-active and as sweeping as you propose. Even though, being in the EEM, the changes you propose would aid us the most since we can build ship classes 1 - 20 inclusive. I would rather create new and different ships than have "god" (RTG) come in and perform such changes. All peaceful traders are welcome. I also have two special projects which I am interested in hiring out. First Sunrise needs to find another M/NM deposit on Ekill or on Ekill's moon Killer. Secondly I am interested in investigating the unknown gas in Ekill's atmosphere. Anyone who is interested in these special projects should contact me directly to work out a compensation package. In addition to buying the above market items for stellars, I am also open to barter arrangements. Barter arrangements will have to be handled individually. Best of luck to all. I can see why he's a trucker weenie...having taken one too many deep breaths of diesel rocket fuel. The Imperials **DID**NOT** step back and let the companies represent themselves. It used its visa granting authority to allow the ROC into the Capellan Periphery and did not get a reciprocating visa for the companies that the ROC will visit and buy from. Hence, the ROC got the right to trade in the Periphery *BUT* the companies did not get the same right in the Draconian Cluster. In order for the companies to get the right to trade they must approach the ROC and deal with them. What we as companies have as leverage, the right to be at our colonies, is gone. The IMP gave that away for us and we got nothing in return. Or, is the ROC visa only good at IMP colonies? (I doubt it.) What I am saying is that the IMP and the companies should consider the Periphery "our space." Just as other foreign nationals consider their space to be "their space." In the CP you are the government, our govern- ment. Free trade requires equality in the area of market opportunity. By granting another government access to "our" markets without getting reciprocating access to "their" markets is a disservice to the companies you represent. But, your flunky proudly gloats over the fact that the "guvment" used its visa authority to line only its own pocket and the business community could just go pound sand (in so many words). That kind of arrogance the Periphery has not seen for some time. If I remember my history lessons right the same problem existed on Earth in the late 20th century between the USA and Japan, Inc. Lots of Nippon products and services in the USA and very little allowable penetration of Nipponese markets by USA companies. The USA government did not do right by its business community either. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Feb 1995 01:16:55 -0500 From: StephMarte@aol.com To: BSE-L@consensus.com, 71470.344@compuserve.com Subject: Re: BSE-L digest 20 Message-ID: <950214234101_21829665@aol.com> Lordy Stu Krieger, You mean to tell me articulate statesmen like the Kriegers can't parley a couple dozen hulls filled with Rlo's 'minty pickle sauce' into a visa into ROC space?
