ANCIENT TIMES #3a From: keith.langley@mdcs.com (Keith Langley) Date: Tue, 28 Feb 1995 09:44:01 +0000 Ancient Times News from ANCIENT EMPIRES and ONE TRUE FAITH Late Winter, issue #0395 OTF game #3 is now full, and three players are waiting for OTF game #4, which will start when we reach six or more players. I have added two new players to OTF game #3 and one to game #2; as long as there is room in those games I don't plan to start a new AE. The Taco Bar of the Gods was a big success; all the food was eaten, several new customers were signed up, and at one point a conclave of six gods was seen feverishly negotiating a realignment of the map of Erth. Antediluvian Times Ancient Empires game #2 Cana hits Rodetan's forward base - A huge army of over 10,000 men took the fortified village of Nat, Womas from Rodetan after a difficult winter march. Midodo's forces crushed by winter - Midodo sent over 1000 men on a forced march into Thardic, to capture the village of Utal. After a grueling trip through raging blizzards, they found that Utal was defended by a wood fort. With no scaling ladders or siege equipment, they were unable to attack the fort and had to march back again through more horrible weather. Over 300 men died of exposure and disease. Sumatray has almost all of Tasmal - With the surrender of the village of Fora, only the capital city of Unshat remains independent. Archaic Times Ancient Empires game #3 Kampo gains second village in Ensu - Reckon, Ensu has chosen to join the Kampo empire. Rosel gaining support in neighboring countries - Rosel was pleased with the acquisition of all of Duba except for the village of Albea, as an angry pro-Rosel mob stormed Duba's palace and killed the King. Rosel also gained the support of the village of Lago, Jurong. An attack on Kimzak, Yealin was called off due to a lack of siege equipment. Cana joins Ataro (theoretically) - The King of Cana announced the union of his country with Ataro. Local barons responded harshly, and the new union only controls the capital and one other village. Egham and Sumatray unite - The Emperor of Egham signed a treaty with the King of Sumatray, making the latter officially a part of the Egham Empire. Sindor gains control of Greco - Sindor peacefully annexed the entire nation of Greco, one village at a time, in an intensive diplomatic effort. Epistles from Erth One True Faith game #2 Ettahae and Mobius go to war - The God of Earth and the Lord of the Undead clashed in Thrandheim. Ettahae sent a large army from Lappland, including dwarves, hobbits and undead troops. Mobius defended with twisted elves and many undead including a catapult and other artillery. The battle was very bloody; both sides lost most of their army. Finally Mobius' last hero fell, and His undead troops ceased fighting. His few twisted elves could not hold the line alone, and were forced to retreat. Ettahae barely had enough troops left to occupy Thrandheim, but captured quite a lot of artillery. Ettahae takes Cornwall - An invasion force of Ettahae's elven troops landed on the north coast of Cornwall, easily defeating the humans defending the province. Gramunch conquers Trier - An army of ratmen supported by uruk-hai wyvern riders moved across the Rhine river from Holland, capturing the province of Trier for Gramunch. The conquest was made easier by the fact that the only hero in Trier was on strike, protesting anti-Orcish discrimination by the Hobgoblins there. Magian captures Algiers - The God of Disease sent an army from Annaba to take Algiers. Southern humans, twisted elves and ogres were used; they took virtually no casualties in securing control of Algiers. Mobius moves into Qattara - Orcs, ratmen, trolls and ogres from Cyrene stormed into Qattara, demoralizing the defenders and capturing most of them. Storch helps Slovaks repel Mobians - Mobius invaded Slovakia with an army of Carpathian orcs and uruk-hai, led by a giant. Two of Storch's priests, doing missionary work in Slovakia, decided to help defend the local agnostics. They summoned hobbit slingers to join the local high elf army, and their aid was decisive in turning back the invasion. Their assistance gained them many new converts, though Slovakia remains officially agnostic. Tyr invades Storch's territory - A two-pronged attack from Languedoc and Savoy moved into Burgundy. Tho God of Justice's force outnumbered the defending Drunks by better than 3 to 1; Storch's troops retreated and Burgundy was taken without a battle. Votlansh captures Lvov - Votlansh carefully prepared the way for His invading army. The night before the invasion, a freak "accident" with a cooking fire left the only hero in Lvov temporarily incapacitated. Thus, when Votlansh's army moved in from White Russia, the defending undead troops had no one to tell them to fight. The few living defenders were easily overwhelmed. (this is part 1 of 2.
