Basically each player gets to take over the role of feudal lord or daimyo. The goal is to take over ricelands and rule Japan, defeating the current Shogun, who is only a small boy. There are shogunate generals defending the shogun (usually incompetent) and monks who run amock like mavericks. Be wary of the dreaded ninja. You can send them against your enemy, but they are expensive. There is a definite commitment required to this game, because it involves stamp money to the game master in Australian currency.
