So that is why you are founding the Pillagers? And here I thought he was trying to punish pillagers! Well, well, now we see the true colours of Grand Muuf and his family. You will have to recruit on the move and take what you can get [Note - yes you can and on occasion will pause in a good area and recruit and study] 5] Not all areas will be of equal value - it may be more than 4 turns before you find a good area to pillage. You will need a large cash reserve making you an attractive target for thieves of high stealth. All in all, I would say the jury is still out. -- Matthew Taylor matthew@clark.net ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Paul Meisner <Paul.Meisner@egc.ericsson.se> Subject: Atlantis - 'Bug Fix' Date: Thu, 02 Mar 95 12:57:00 PST In his message, John Bollinger writes >I just read that Geoff has "fixed" the "bug" that units with swords but no >combat skill could not tax. If I can give my herbalists the ability to tax, in addition >to an effective combat skill of 2, just by buying them swords, then why >shouldn't all of my units be herbalists? Or lumberjacks? This goes double for weaponsmiths, who can make their own swords. >Sure, combat-trained units would be _better_ in a fight, but they now lack >any other raison d'etre, at least for some faction types. I agree with John's assessment. I think that there is already a certain slant towards war factions in the game. Perhaps this is just a little too much. What is this winging about pilaging. Basically shut up, pilaging in going to happen, forget about it. If someone tries to do it on your patch, kick their arse. This list is meant for all players in the Atlantis 2.0. Mail sent to this list should be appropriate for all players of Atlantis 2.0. Rules questions should probably be sent to the moderator (atlantis@rahul.net), he can then forward the question and answer to the list. Role-playing is appropriate, but faction-to-faction email should not be sent to the list. To send mail to everyone on this list, send mail to: atl-players@tango.rahul.net Please include the word 'Atlantis' in your Subject line, so the other recipients of the list can identify your message. If you wish to be taken off of this list, just let me know, at atlantis@rahul.net. You do not need to be on this list to play Atlantis 2.0. ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Mike Blaser <mab@kcc.co.uk> Date: Mon, 06 Mar 95 11:45:30 GMT Subject: ATLANTIS Mapping program Greetings Can someone send me a uuencoded copy of the Atlantean Enquirer's mapping program from the FTP site. So far we have had three months of winter with at least another one to come. At a guess our longitude means that we have longer winters than everyone else. As a result of the inclement weather we have been unable to move now for three months with no respite in view. If you fancy being stuck in a city with two hundred other characters though, then snowy Sledmere is the place for you. Date: Mon, 6 Mar 1995 14:07:53 +0100 (MET) The Moic-Tarra Ne Dreubhan a new faction based in Atlantic City, seeks short descriptions of the gate-cities and their surroundings. What I really want is descriptions of survival-probability for new factions, for example komarken sounds pretty rough.... Recent reports wild indicate that the Drow, infamous dark elves are prowling the surface world. There have been two sightings in the city of atlantis to date. Eye witnesses said they saw a short(about 5'3") humanoid with white hair and ebon skin. The alleged Drow was dress in a hooded cloak and quickly disapeared into the shadows. If these rumours are true the city and indeed the world of atlantis could be in for torid times, if the Drow's history is anything to go by. Fair citizens of Atlantis beware, "the drow are comming".
